🌸 Women’s Health Week is just around the corner! 🌸
We still have a few places available for our Journal Making Workshop next Tuesday, delivered by Saltwater Freshwater.
See the workshop description below;
The facilitator will introduce participants to handmade paper and guide them through creating and binding their journal, with opportunities to incorporate simple fibre and weaving techniques and natural materials. The creative approach will gently explore story, connection to Country and place, and personal reflection, while allowing each participant to create something individual and meaningful.

Women's Health NSW are saddened to hear of the death of a young person, allegedly due to sexual choking. For the last three years we have trained the community women’s health workforce across NSW to have evidence-based harm reduction conversations with women engaging in, or considering, sexual choking. Global evidence has expanded about the relationship between acquired brain injuries and sexual choking, which can reduce or cut off the supply of oxygen and/or blood to the brain. We continue to advocate for young people to have access to evidence-based information about the impacts sexual choking can have, including brain injury and death, delivered in a way they can relate to.

Police are continuing to investigate the death of a 16-year-old Sydney girl, which the ABC understands is being treated as a suspected sexual choking act.

At Women’s Health Centre, we recognise the importance of women being able to access healthcare and services, and to receive information they can understand in their own language.

Clear, accessible and culturally appropriate communication is an important part of ensuring women feel informed, supported and empowered in their healthcare.

This research highlights why removing language and communication barriers continues to matter.

This August, our fabulous Health Voyage staff member Tara is conquering 112km in Step Up to Breast Cancer to help save lives.

Every day, 56 people in Australia are diagnosed with breast cancer.

Her goal is to raise funds for National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) to support vital breast cancer research. Ongoing research is the only way we can improve our understanding of how breast cancer originates, grows and spreads, in order to develop tests, treatments and interventions to improve outcomes for people with the disease.
