Dr Leah is a medical practitioner with a special interest in regenerative medicine, metabolic health, hormonal wellbeing and healthy ageing.

A graduate of the University of Sydney, Dr Leah brings experience across clinical medicine, biotechnology and cosmetic medicine. Her biotechnology background has shaped her particular interest in cellular and metabolic signalling—and how these pathways can influence metabolism, hormones, body composition, energy, recovery and ageing.

Her areas of interest include:

• Metabolic health and body composition
• Hormonal health
• Energy, vitality and recovery
• Muscle health and physical performance
• Healthy ageing and longevity
• Regenerative and metabolic health

Dr Leah takes a personalised approach, beginning with a detailed medical assessment to understand each patient’s medical history, individual physiology and health goals.

Where clinically appropriate, she may recommend investigations and develop an individualised plan incorporating established medical, nutritional and lifestyle approaches, with ongoing monitoring to review progress over time.

Dr Leah’s philosophy centres on helping patients better understand their biology and supporting long-term health, resilience and healthy ageing.

Appointments with Dr Leah are now available at MINT Clinic.

PEPTIDES: SEPARATING THE SCIENCE FROM THE HYPE 🧬

Peptides have become one of the most talked-about topics in health and medicine, but information shared through social media, gyms and online forums is not always accurate or safe.

WHAT ARE PEPTIDES?

Peptides are short chains of amino acids, the building blocks of proteins. Many occur naturally in the body and act as signalling molecules, helping cells and organs communicate.

Different peptides have very different functions. Some are involved in hormones, metabolism, immune activity and tissue repair. Certain peptide-based medicines are well established in conventional healthcare, while others remain experimental or have not been approved for therapeutic use in Australia.

WHY THE GROWING INTEREST?

Developing research into cellular and metabolic signalling has increased interest in the potential medical applications of peptides.

It has also contributed to a growing unregulated market. Products are frequently promoted online with claims relating to weight loss, muscle development, recovery, anti-ageing and performance, often without reliable evidence or appropriate medical oversight.

THE RISKS OF SOURCING PEPTIDES YOURSELF

Products obtained through friends, personal trainers, gym contacts, social media or overseas suppliers may carry risks including:

• Counterfeit or incorrectly labelled products
• Contamination or inadequate sterility
• Incorrect concentrations or dosing information
• Undisclosed or substituted ingredients
• Side effects or medication interactions
• Use when medically unsuitable
• Delayed diagnosis or treatment of an underlying condition

Terms such as “research grade,” “pharmaceutical grade” or “for research purposes only” do not establish that a product is approved, lawful or safe for personal use.

ARE PEPTIDES LEGAL IN AUSTRALIA?

There is no single answer that applies to every peptide.

Some peptide-based medicines are included in the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods and are available only with a valid prescription. Other products have not been evaluated by the TGA for safety, quality or effectiveness.

The legal position depends on the particular substance and how it is manufactured, prescribed, supplied or imported.

The safest approach is not to purchase, import or use a peptide product without advice from an appropriately qualified, Australian-registered medical practitioner.

This post provides general educational information only. It does not advertise or recommend any medicine or treatment and is not a substitute for individual medical advice.

A good night’s sleep doesn’t have to feel impossible.

When sleep feels elusive, it’s often not just one contributing factor. The nervous system, stress chemistry, and even gut health all playing a role.

That’s why our PureScript range brings together two formulations designed to work synergistically:

Lunara Sleep supports the foundations of calm and restorative sleep with:
• Inositol – supports calming neurotransmitter activity
• Taurine – helps regulate sleep–wake cycles
• Theanine – promotes relaxation and improves sleep quality
• Glutamine – supports gut health, a key contributor to restful sleep

Paired with Viverra Magnesium, featuring Magnesium Threonate and Magnesium Glycinate to support cognitive calm, nervous system regulation and deep muscle relaxation.

Together, they help create the internal conditions for sleep to come more naturally.

If you’ve been lying awake feeling wired but tired, this combination may be worth exploring.

Available in clinic and via our website.

Speak with our team to see if it’s right for you.

💧 Water isn’t just about thirst... it’s about regulation 💧

With a hot weekend ahead in Melbourne, hydration matters more than hitting an arbitrary “2 litres a day.” That number ignores how your body actually uses water.

Here’s what dehydration really affects 👇

• Nervous system tone – Even mild dehydration increases cortisol and sympathetic drive. More water = more capacity to stay calm, clear and regulated in the heat.

• Blood viscosity & circulation – When you’re under-hydrated, blood thickens. That means your heart works harder, tissues get less oxygen, and fatigue hits faster.

• Detox pathways – Liver and kidneys rely on adequate fluid flow, not just function. Without enough water, waste clearance slows, especially in heat.

• Electrolyte balance – Sweating without replacing fluid (and minerals) can disrupt sodium–potassium balance, impacting energy, muscle function and focus.

• Cellular energy – Mitochondria require water to generate ATP efficiently. Less water = less energy at a cellular level.

In hot weather, hydration isn’t passive, it’s adaptive.

You’ll likely need more than 2L, spaced consistently through the day, and ideally paired with minerals or electrolytes.

Sip early. Sip often. Support your systems. Not just your thirst. 💧☀️

Call us cheeky 😉 but we can’t help noticing the US Government’s new food pyramid closely resembles MINT Clinic's dietary advice.

The U.S. government's 2026 Food Pyramid demonstrates a renewed focus on protein, dairy, and healthy fats, marking a significant shift away from decades of low-fat, high-refined-carbohydrate advice. Advice that coincided with rising rates of metabolic disease, pre-diabetes (now affecting over one-third of adults), and declining children’s health.

At MINT Clinic, this isn’t new thinking. It reflects what we see clinically every day:
nourishment matters, blood sugar balance matters, and quality protein and fats are foundational to energy, hormones, brain health, and long-term wellbeing.

Food is information and it’s encouraging to see policy beginning to reflect physiology.

Sometimes progress looks like admitting we got it wrong… and choosing better.
