Sunshine Butterflies is a disability support service and charity located on the Sunshine Coast. Sunshine Butterflies strives to improve the lives of those with disability and their families. Sunshine Butterflies provides a unique range of educational and recreational disability support services, programs and activities. Our uniquely flexible and respectful culture that supports our individuals and

their families with disability is what sets us apart.

'Our Backyard’, home of Sunshine Butterflies, is a 15-acre learning, respite, education and recreational facility in the Noosa countryside that provides life skills, plus recreational and learning opportunities to people with disability. Located in the beautiful Noosa Countryside at 468 McKinnon Drive Cooroibah, ‘Our Backyard’ is just 5 minutes from Tewantin/Noosa, bringing everyone together in one accessible place to access all of our programs, activities, supports and services. Sunshine Butterflies was founded in 2010 by Leanne Walsh, who made it her mission to reduce the stigma of disability within her community and she now leads a dedicated team to help make this dream a reality. Sunshine Butterflies vision is for individuals with disability and their families have the support they need to live a happy and fulfilled life.

WHAT A WONDERFUL COMMUNITY OPEN DAY! ☀️💛

Thank you to everyone who joined us at our Community Open Day and 16th Birthday celebrations today. 🎉

We absolutely love opening the gates to our beautiful 15-acre farm ‘Our Backyard’ and welcoming the community in to experience a little of the magic that happens here every day.

There was plenty to enjoy! 🚜🌱🎶
From tractor rides and the Adventure Playground, to face painting, our sausage sizzle and meeting our farm animals. Visitors enjoyed treats from the Pantry Café, sorted their gardens at our plant stall, picked up a new cheeseboard designed by our support employment staff, enjoyed the wonderful live music from Chris & Tracey and also had the chance to see some of our programs in action.

Most importantly, it was a day filled with smiles, connection, inclusion and community, exactly what our Community Open Day is all about. 💛

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came along, celebrated with us and helped make the day so special. We loved having you at ‘Our Backyard’ and hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!

If you've ever wondered what a day at Sunshine Butterflies is like, our Community Open Day is the perfect opportunity to experience it for yourself!

Come and visit our much-loved Butterfly Bakers program and see our members in action as they mix, measure, bake and create delicious treats in our purpose-built Cooking School.

Using fresh seasonal herbs, fruits and vegetables from our Learning Gardens, members develop valuable home baking skills while creating everything from mouthwatering desserts and brownies to savoury muffins and slices. Best of all, they get to take their delicious creations home to share with family and friends, if the staff don’t eat them all first!

🎉💃 ¡Arriba, arriba! ¡Ándale, ándale! 🌮🎶

Our members and staff had an absolutely fantastic time attending St Andrew's Anglican College House Factor 2026! This year's theme, "House Fiesta", celebrated the Spanish and South American language and culture embraced at the college, and what an incredible celebration it was! 🎭✨

From the colourful costumes and energetic performances to the vibrant music and dancing, our members loved every minute of the spectacular show. The talent, creativity and school spirit on display created an unforgettable experience for everyone.

A very special highlight was seeing our very own superstar member Aaron take to the stage to close the show, performing Shakira's Hips Don't Lie. 🌟🎤 The crowd absolutely loved it!

We are so proud of Aaron and the confidence, passion and joy he brings every time he performs. Watching him light up the stage in front of such a large audience is always a proud moment for our Sunshine Butterflies family. 💛🦋

A huge thank you to St Andrew's Anglican College for your wonderful hospitality and for continuing to create such an inclusive event that our members look forward to every year. We are already counting down to House Factor 2027! 🎉💙

Ever wondered what a day at Sunshine Butterflies looks like?

Join us at our Community Open Day on Wednesday 12th August and experience our popular 'Chippies Corner' program in action!

Led by our talented Program Coordinator, Dwight, Chippies Corner is where creativity meets craftsmanship. Members learn to design, build and create unique timber projects in a safe, supportive and hands-on environment, all while working towards their own creative goals.

You might even catch a live demonstration of our new laser engraver and see first-hand the incredible projects our members have been creating!

🎶Wednesdays Are for Eumundi Markets! 🌻

Every Wednesday, our Sunshine Butterflies crew heads out into the community for one of our favourite weekly adventures - Eumundi Market Day!

From live music and delicious food to local stalls, entertainment and plenty of friendly faces, there's always something exciting to experience.

Last week, Jack tried his luck at a game of co****le under the watchful eye of our friends from 91.1 Hot FM... and walked away a winner with a voucher! 🎉

Our Eumundi Market Day program is about so much more than a day out. It's about building confidence, developing social connections, encouraging independence, and creating opportunities for our members to engage with the wider community in a fun, supportive and inclusive environment.

At Sunshine Butterflies, we believe everyone deserves to feel a sense of purpose and belonging. Through our wide range of community-based programs, members enjoy meaningful experiences while building valuable life skills, making new friendships and embracing active, healthy lifestyles.
