"Early identification and treatment of spasticity can have a profound impact on a person's function and quality of life," says Rehabilitation Physician Dr Mariska Stuurstraat.

Spasticity can develop after neurological conditions such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, brain injury or spinal cord injury, causing muscle stiffness, pain and difficulties with movement. For many people, these symptoms can affect everyday activities, independence and wellbeing.

Yesterday, we came together to mark Parkinson’s Month with a relaxed afternoon tea for our patients, their families, and our wonderful staff.
It was especially meaningful to have Dr Sanjay Gangadharan, one of our Eden doctors, join us. With a special interest in supporting older people living with Parkinson’s disease, Dr Gangadharan took the time to connect with patients and families and share in the conversation.
Events like this remind us how important community, understanding, and connection are for everyone affected by Parkinson’s disease. Thank you to all who joined us and helped make the afternoon so special.

At Eden Private Hospital, we recently supported a family who needed short‑stay respite care at short notice, providing 24‑hour support in a safe hospital environment and peace of mind for a carer who needed to travel.
