So today is international awareness day for ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia! My mum has fibromyalgia , and I have Myalgic Encephalomyelitis. Fun times. ‘ME’ was originally named chronic fatigue by physiologists in the 60’s, it was completely misunderstood and lead to many people thinking it’s just depression or ‘in your head’. Let me tell you, it’s not. 6 years ago I was fit, 20 kilos lighter and enjoyed Latin dancing, lifting weights and running. And now, well I’m posting this from bed…at 7pm. I won’t go on, but just keep an open mind. It’s hard to understand what people with chronic illness go through. And it’s hard to explain to a healthy person. Be kind.
