We’re opening the table to new voices.

Nas Recovery Centre is recruiting 6-8 members to join the NRC Advisory Group and contribute to how our programs, services and future priorities are shaped.

We’re seeking a mix of lived experience, community knowledge and professional expertise and we particularly want to hear from young people and emerging leaders who are ready to bring new perspectives to the conversation.

No boardroom experience required.

What matters is your insight, your connection to community, and your willingness to contribute.

If you’re passionate about mental health, AOD, community advocacy and strengthening outcomes for African-Australian communities, we encourage you to apply.

Good Afternoon Everyone

Help us keep NRC open

At NRC, we are a vital link in bridging the gap between mainstream services and the African community. Our drop-in centre is where families heal together, and where young people find hope for a better future since 2023.

This work is only possible because we have a space where people feel safe to seek help. But now, we are at risk of losing it.

We are calling on our community, friends, and supporters to help us secure this space for the next two years.

We must raise $50,000 by 30 June 2026 to cover our venue rental, utilities, and essential equipment for the next two years. Without this funding, we will lose the foundation of our work - the place where people take their first steps toward healing, stability, and a brighter future.

How you can help

As a registered Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR), all donations over $2 are tax-deductible.

Together, we can ensure that no one in our community is left without support.

NAS Recovery Centre was proud to attend the ECCV Networking Forum held on 31 March at Atura Hotel Dandenong.

The event brought together representatives from different organisations to discuss important community issues including mental health, discrimination and racism, participant engagement, and the ongoing impact of the cost of living on youth, families, and senior citizens.

It was a valuable opportunity to connect, share insights, and continue working together to support and strengthen our community. 🫱🏽‍🫲🏼🤝

Stronger bones, stronger conversations 👏🏾

At NAS Recovery Centre, our Osteoporosis & Bone Health session this week gave participants the opportunity to share stories, ask questions, and yarn openly in a supportive environment. The conversation highlighted the importance of culturally safe health education and empowering community through knowledge and connection.

Here’s what a participant and one of our facilitators .trimester had to say 😎

You heard it here first! NAS Recovery Centre is expanding to the West Side of Melbourne very soon!🎉

We’re bringing our comprehensive, trauma-informed, and culturally tailored addiction and mental health programs, along with NDIS services, specifically focused on young people from South Sudanese and other African backgrounds in the West.

Today, we had the pleasure of touring the offices of Werribee and (CMY) Melton /Sunshine where we received a warm welcome and discussed the logistics of our future collaborations to effectively meet the needs of local communities.

We can’t wait to take you along on this journey as we expand our work to empower people, strengthen systems, and build pathways of dignity and well-being across Melbourne.

Stay tuned for more information on our start date and how you and your families can benefit from this program!
