Community Health Dietetics Offering Fertility and Pregnancy Nutrition Support

Deniliquin Health Service is pleased to announce an expansion of its Dietetics Service, with Accredited Practising Dietitian Ciara D’Aprile recently completing an intensive eight-week Nutrition Therapy for Fertility course, funded by the hospital as part of its commitment to ongoing professional development and expanding specialist services across the region.

This additional training expands the service's ability to provide evidence-based nutrition support for individuals and couples planning a pregnancy, trying to conceive naturally, undergoing fertility treatment, or looking to optimise their health before conception and throughout pregnancy.

Ciara works alongside fellow Accredited Practising Dietitian Jemma Braybon, who celebrated 10 years with the service last year. Together, they provide personalised, evidence-based nutrition care to communities across Deniliquin, Finley, Berrigan, Jerilderie, Tocumwal, Barham, Moama and Moulamein.

The Community Health Dietetics Service also provides nutrition assessment and counselling for a broad range of conditions, including:

Diabetes (Type 1, Type 2 and gestational diabetes)
Paediatric and infant nutrition
Renal disease
Gastrointestinal conditions, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and diverticular disease
Food allergies and intolerances
Chronic disease management, including cardiovascular and respiratory conditions
Oncology nutrition
Eating disorders and disordered eating
Fertility, preconception and pregnancy nutrition

For enquiries or to make an appointment, contact the Community Care Intake Service on 1800 654 324 or speak with your doctor.

💚 Massageology Health Tip

What is Manual Lymphatic Drainage?

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a gentle, specialised treatment that helps stimulate your body’s lymphatic system.

Using slow, rhythmic techniques, MLD encourages the movement of lymph fluid, helping to reduce swelling, improve circulation, support the immune system and promote the removal of excess fluid from the body’s tissues.

MLD may benefit people experiencing fluid retention, pregnancy-related swelling, recovery following surgery (when medically appropriate), lymphatic congestion, or those simply wanting to support their overall health and wellbeing.

Unlike traditional massage, MLD uses very gentle movements, making it both deeply relaxing and highly effective.

💙 Birth Trauma Awareness Week | 13–19 July 2026

The Cost of Birth Trauma.

The arrival of a baby is a joyful experience for many families. But for others, birth can be a mixed experience—or even traumatic.

Birth-related trauma may be physical, psychological, or both, and its effects can be profound, long-lasting and far-reaching. The impact extends well beyond the birth itself, affecting not only the woman living with these injuries but also her partner, children, family, workplace, community and the broader economy.

This Birth Trauma Awareness Week, we're acknowledging the true cost of birth trauma.
💙 The cost to physical recovery.
💙 The cost to emotional wellbeing.
💙 The cost to relationships and family life.
💙 The cost to employment and financial security.
💙 The cost to healthcare systems and our communities.

By sharing stories, listening with compassion and increasing awareness, we can reduce stigma and advocate for maternity care that is built on informed consent, respectful communication and trauma-informed practice.

As massage and health professionals, we have an important role to play. Every interaction is an opportunity to provide a safe, nurturing space where women feel heard, respected and supported. Through trauma-informed communication, therapeutic touch and evidence-based care, we can help women reconnect with their bodies and support healing after birth.

At Pregnancy Massage Australia® and through our NurtureLife® Practitioner network, we are committed to educating practitioners to deliver compassionate, woman-centred care that recognises the lasting impact of birth experiences. Together, we can improve outcomes for mothers, babies and families while supporting healing beyond birth.

Let's continue the conversation, honour lived experiences and work towards a future where every woman feels safe, respected and supported throughout pregnancy, birth and the postnatal journey.

💙 Because birth matters.
💙 Because every woman's experience matters.
💙 Because healing matters.
