EMDR therapists spend a lot of time sitting in the therapist’s chair. This program offers an opportunity to experience EMDR from the other side.

Mindful Living’s Online EMDR Group Program has been designed specifically for EMDR-trained therapists who would like space to work on personal experiences or professional blocks that may be affecting their clinical work.

Across three weekly 2-hour sessions, participants are guided through structured EMDR processing in a small online group. Personal trauma memories are not shared with other participants or facilitators during the processing work, allowing the experience to remain largely private.

The program draws on the Integrative Group Treatment Protocol (IGTP) and includes bilateral stimulation, drawing and resource development.

Sometimes, a chair is more than somewhere to sit.

This is one of the chairs in our Mindful Living rooms. A place where someone might arrive feeling nervous, unsure, tired or hopeful.

Over time, it may become familiar. A place to pause, talk, reflect, or simply take a breath.

We think carefully about the spaces our clients spend time in. Soft light, comfortable furniture and a calm setting are small details, but they can help a therapy room feel welcoming and considered.

For us, this chair represents something simple: making space for whatever someone brings with them that day.

What make you feel comfortable in a space?

A brain shaped by difficult experiences may become highly alert to signs of danger. It may notice changes in tone, scan the environment, prepare for conflict or react strongly to reminders of the past.

These responses can feel frustrating, especially when the present situation appears safe, but they developed for a reason. At some point, responding quickly may have helped you cope with something overwhelming.

With appropriate support and repeated experiences of safety, the brain can learn new ways of responding. Change usually happens gradually and at a pace that respects each person’s history and needs.

Your reactions are part of your story. They do not define your capacity for growth.

Save this post as a reminder to respond to yourself with compassion.

What if the behaviours you criticise most about yourself aren't flaws at all?

Perfectionism. People-pleasing. Always being busy. Staying on high alert.

Did you know that many of the habits we criticise in ourselves began as ways of staying safe?

Our latest blog explores a more compassionate understanding of survival strategies and why resilience isn't about being strong all the time. It's about finding your way back to steadiness, one small step at a time.

The program fee is $590, and Medicare rebates may be available with an appropriate GP referral.

The group is private processing with shared support and is carefully guided by experienced EMDR facilitators. Participants are not asked to share their trauma story with the group.

Free 30-minute intake calls are now open for August 2026.

Getting the whole Mindful Living team together can be a challenge. Between client appointments, different working days and full diaries, there aren't many times when everyone is in the same place.

So our team lunches are something we really enjoy.

In July, we made time to sit down together, share some tasty food, catch up on what has been happening and enjoy plenty of laughs. We even had to bring in a few extra chairs this time as our team continues to grow.

A lovely chance to pause during a busy week and spend time with the people we work alongside every day.

Resilience is often spoken about as though it means coping well, staying strong, or moving forward without being affected. But stress and trauma can have a real impact.

A more compassionate understanding of resilience allows space to acknowledge that something has been difficult, and allowing for space for support, rest, care, and time. Seeking support does not make someone less resilient.
For many people, support can be part of how resilience develops.

Share this with someone who may need a gentler reminder today.

When your body spend long periods staying alert, stress can start to feel familiar.

You might notice difficulty switching off at night, feeling tired but wired, or reaching for emails long after the workday has ended.

Our nervous systems are designed for periods of activation and recovery. Both are important.

If checking emails has become part of your evening routine, consider experimenting with a different transition instead. A cup of tea, sitting quietly for five minutes, stretching, or listening to music can help create a clearer ending to the day.

What helps your body recognise that work is finished?

Mindful Living’s EMDR Group Program is structured and guided by experienced facilitators.

Across 3 x 2-hour sessions, participants are supported through education, calming strategies, guided EMDR activities, simple drawing exercises and reflection.

You do not need to be artistic. The drawing activities are not about creating “good” artwork. They are simply one way of supporting the EMDR process in a private, non-verbal way.

The program is held in person at Mindful Living in Croydon, with a maximum of 10 participants in August.
