🌹 Stop and Smell the Roses 🌹

In the hustle of life, it’s easy to forget to take a moment for yourself. At Hamilton House, we always remind our patients that self-care is more than just aesthetics, it’s about truly appreciating the little things. Whether you're considering a procedure or simply taking time to pause, breathe, and soak in life’s simple joys.

Beauty is in the details.

While travelling in Gothenburg, Sweden, Dr Richard Hamilton had the opportunity to revisit his alma mater, Sahlgrenska University Hospital, where he completed his plastic surgery training and helped establish the microsurgery program for breast and lower limb reconstruction many years ago.

During his visit, he caught up with longtime friend and Deputy Head of the Plastic Surgery Unit, Dr Hans Mark. The pair exchanged meaningful gifts, with Dr Hamilton presenting a copy of The History of Australian Plastic Surgery, while Dr Mark gifted him a copy of his thesis on bone healing.

Dr Hamilton also visited the operating theatres, where the team was performing a DIEP flap breast reconstruction, and enjoyed reconnecting with Maria Bjork, one of the theatre nurses he had worked alongside during his time at Sahlgrenska.

It was a memorable return to a place that played such an important role in his surgical training and career.

Prominent ears are a common concern for both children and adults and can vary significantly from person to person.

Otoplasty is a surgical procedure that may be considered to improve the appearance and position of prominent ears. Every treatment plan is tailored to the individual following a comprehensive consultation and assessment.

If you have been considering otoplasty, understanding your options is the first step. During your consultation, Dr Richard Hamilton will discuss your concerns, explain the procedure, and help determine whether surgery is appropriate for your individual circumstances.

Excessive underarm sweating can be more than just an inconvenience.

Known as axillary hyperhidrosis, it can affect confidence, clothing choices and everyday comfort.

Many people try clinical antiperspirants and other non-surgical treatments first. However, for some individuals, these approaches may not provide adequate relief.

In selected cases, surgical treatment may be considered as part of a personalised management plan.

If persistent underarm sweating is affecting your quality of life, a consultation can help determine the most appropriate treatment options for your individual circumstances.

While in Belgium following developments in plastic surgery, Dr Richard Hamilton took time to visit the WWI battlefield at Fromelles, where more than 7,000 Australian soldiers became casualties in a single day.

The visit was especially meaningful as his great uncle, Frank Eric Hamilton, served there as a Private in the 8th Battalion. He was fortunate to return home, despite suffering shrapnel injuries and the lasting effects of gas exposure.

Over his career, Dr Hamilton has had the privilege of treating many veterans and war widows, including those connected to World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War and Afghanistan.

“Visiting Fromelles was a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by previous generations. It has been an honour to care for so many servicemen, women and their families over the years.”

Dr Richard Hamilton recently spent a day at the E:MC² Aesthetic Surgery Clinic in Ghent, Belgium, with Dr Alex Verpaele and Dr Patrick Tonnard, pioneers of the short scar facelift technique.

It was a valuable opportunity to observe their latest approaches to facial rejuvenation and discuss developments in facelift surgery, micro-fat grafting, and NanoFat. Having introduced micro-fat grafting to Adelaide some years ago, Dr Hamilton was particularly interested to see how the field continues to evolve.

NanoFat, which contains regenerative cells derived from fat tissue, is increasingly being used to support skin quality, rejuvenation, and tissue restoration as part of a comprehensive facial rejuvenation strategy.

Dr Hamilton also gained further insights into deep neck lift surgery, a technically demanding procedure that can play an important role in selected patients.

Every woman is different anatomically.

As access to images of women’s genitalia becomes easier, many women wonder if they are normal. The truth is many of these images have been altered using imaging software and this can create an unrealistic expectation of what normal anatomy looks like.

Although there has been a lot of controversy surrounding this kind of surgery, there are women out there suffering from real problems. For some women, their l***a can be a problem with sports. For others, they can be uncomfortable wearing tight-fitted clothing. Sometimes women feel self-conscious about their large l***a and find this can interfere with intimate relationships or with in*******se.

Labiaplasty is a medical procedure that reduces unwanted tissue around the l***a minora (inner lips) or l***a majora (outer lips).

Dr Hamilton has over 25 years experience in performing virtually scarless Labiaplasty surgery for women who want to reduce the l***a to a more comfortable size.
