The key word is consistently. Taking vitamin C on a daily basis is what actually helps. If you already feel a cold coming on, a higher dose for a short period can still help reduce the severity and length of it. One of the biggest misconceptions though is that more is always better. Vitamin C is water soluble, so there's only so much your body can use before the rest is simply flushed out.

The maximum safe daily amount for a healthy adult is 4 grams, which is eight standard 500mg tablets in 24 hours. Go past that and your liver hits a breaking point where it simply can't process it fast enough, and damage happens faster than most people realise. If you drink alcohol regularly, that safe threshold is even lower. Check the ingredients across everything you're taking. A lot of cold and flu combos already contain paracetamol, so it's easy to double the dose without realising.

Once you've spent enough on prescriptions across the calendar year, your medications become free or heavily discounted for the rest of that year. Magnesium glycinate, not oxide. It's chelated to an amino acid, so it absorbs properly and won't wreck your gut. Cheap magnesium is usually oxide, and that only has about 4% absorption, so it's way less effective. Vitamin D3, not D2, converts to the active form your body actually uses. 1,000 to 2,000 IU daily, with a meal. These aren't the most expensive things on this shelf.
