What does a behaviour support practitioner actually do?
A fair question, because the job title doesnβt explain much. Hereβs what working with one of our practitioners typically involves.
We spend time observing and listening, with the person, their family, and other supports, to understand when behaviours of concern happen, what tends to come before them, and what they may be communicating. From there we develop a behaviour support plan: practical, written strategies that teach new skills, adjust environments and give everyone in the support circle a consistent approach.
Then we stay involved, coaching the people around the person and adjusting the plan as life changes.
Our practitioners work with NDIS participants across the Sunshine Coast, Gympie, Morayfield and Hervey Bay. Questions? Call 0414 132 139.
