📢 Important Changes to Bulk Billing from the 1st of July.
From 1 July, Medicare is introducing changes to the way bulk billed consultations and services are processed.
As part of these changes, patients must provide consent for a bulk billed service before Medicare will allow the practice to claim the benefit on their behalf. This is a legal requirement set by Medicare and applies to all medical practices.
What does this mean for you?
✅ You may receive an SMS before OR after your appointment requesting your consent for the service to be bulk billed.
✅ The process is quick, secure, and Medicare-approved.
✅ Your consent allows us to process your bulk billed consultation directly with Medicare.
Please note that Medicare requires patient consent for all bulk billed services. If your consultation is eligible for bulk billing and consent is not received, or you choose not to provide consent, we will be unable to process the appointment as a bulk billed service. A private consultation fee will therefore apply and payment will be required on the day of your appointment.
If you do not have a mobile phone or are unable to provide SMS consent, that's ok! There will be a paper-based consent form to sign after your consultation, just see the reception team.
Going forward, please ensure you check out with our friendly reception team after your appointment so we can confirm that your consent has been received and your bulk billing has been processed correctly.
We appreciate the patience, understanding, and cooperation of all our wonderful patients as we implement these Medicare changes.
