At 2pm today, if your phone made an unusual sound for about 10 seconds, it was the AusAlert message (not a scammer, not a goonki).

You don’t need to do anything - it was a test run.

‼️Monday 2pm, 27 July 2026 ‼️📲 If your mobile phone is on, it will receive a national test alert on Monday at 2pm.

‼️Monday 2pm, 27 July 2026 ‼️

📲 If your mobile phone is on, it will receive a national test alert on Monday at 2pm.

AusAlert test alert – Monday 27 July 🚨

AusAlert, a new national warning system that uses the latest technology, is being launched by the Australian Government to send emergency messages to compatible mobile devices.

AusAlert will launch in October 2026, but before then it is being tested across Australia.

On Monday 27 July, your mobile phone, tablet or smart watch may receive a test alert.

The test times:
• 2:00 pm AEST (QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, TAS)
• 1:30 pm ACST (SA, NT, Broken Hill NSW)
• 12:00 pm AWST (WA)

Devices will:
• vibrate
• play a loud, siren-like sound that lasts about 10 seconds
• get a message on screen confirming it’s a test.

If this could disrupt you or cause you or a loved one to feel unsafe, please turn off your mobile devices or switch them to aeroplane mode before the scheduled test time in your location, and leave them off for at least one hour.

This is only a test, so you don’t need to do anything.

In a real emergency, you should follow the alert instructions to keep yourself and others safe.
