⚠️ Important: National AusAlert test - Monday 27 July, 2pm (AEST)

At 2pm on Monday, all mobile phones in Australia will receive a test emergency alert.

Your device will vibrate and play a loud siren for around 10 seconds, even if it's on silent, Do Not Disturb, or doesn't have a SIM card.

For some people, this alert could create a safety risk, including those experiencing family violence who have a hidden phone or device.

If you or someone you know may be at risk, it's important to plan ahead.

Before 2pm on Monday:
• Turn the device off, or
• Switch it to aeroplane mode
• Leave it off or in aeroplane mode for at least one hour

Please consider sharing this information with anyone who may need it.

If you need support:
📞 Safe Steps: 1800 015 188 (24/7)
📞 1800RESPECT: 1800 737 732 (24/7)
📞 The Orange Door: 1800 319 354 or 1800 512 358
📞 Gippsland Centre Against Sexual Assault (GCASA): 5134 3922

These emergency alerts are designed to help keep people safe, so we only recommend disabling them if receiving the alert could place someone at risk.

Do you have a current Medications List???💊💊💊
This one is really good if you prefer an actual form you can keep with you!
We can print these out here at the BNC and help you fill it in if you'd like😊
Why is an up-to-date list so important??📋
✅Safety First: It prevents dangerous drug interactions and accidental double-dosing.
✅Better Health Outcomes: It ensures your doctors👩🏼‍⚕️and pharmacists have the full picture of your health to review your treatments properly.
✅Emergency Preparedness: 🚑 In an emergency, having your list handy provides paramedics or hospital staff with life-saving information.
✅Smooth Transitions: It makes transitioning between home🏠, a hospital🏥, or a new care facility much safer.

Are you aware of your healthcare rights?

To help ensure that you are aware of what your rights are, here is a copy of the Australian Charter of Healthcare Rights for you to familiarise yourself with.

We are always here to help you navigate your healthcare and if you ever have any questions about your rights, please come and chat to your friendly Bush Nurses. We will help you to feel confident to make decisions about your healthcare and provide you with open and honest communication ☺️

At our May Board of Management Meeting, we were fortunate to have a community member join us to talk about their experience with the Dargo Bush Nursing Team. Hearing directly from the people we care for helps us understand what we’re doing well and where we can do better. Your lived experiences are essential in shaping the services we provide.

If you’re interested in having a relaxed chat with our Board at a future monthly meeting about the care you’ve received, we’d love to hear from you. Just get in touch with the Centre, and we can let you know the types of questions you might be asked. We truly appreciate anyone who can take part and help strengthen the future of our Centre.
