Kegels are often the first thing people think of when they hear “pelvic floor.” But strengthening isn’t always the whole answer.
Your pelvic floor needs to do more than contract. These muscles also need to relax and coordinate properly with the rest of your body to support bladder and bowel control, sexual function and core stability.
That means pelvic floor issues can look different from person to person:
→ Weak muscles may contribute to urinary leakage and reduced muscle control.
→ Overly tight muscles can contribute to pelvic pain, difficulty urinating or bowel movements, and sexual discomfort.
→ Poor coordination can make it difficult for the muscles to contract or relax when they need to.
So doing more Kegels isn’t automatically the solution. The right approach depends on what your pelvic floor actually needs.
At Millk, the Tesla Chair uses functional magnetic stimulation to activate the pelvic floor and lower-back muscles, making it one of the treatment options available for pelvic floor concerns.
If you’re experiencing changes in bladder control, pelvic function or sexual function, speak with a qualified healthcare professional to determine the right approach.
