Balcor Directors and staff would like to thank Austin Wonaeamerri for his great service as a Disability Support Worker At Milikapiti for the past 2 years.

Today he tendered his resignation at Balcor and will start his new role Monday as Chairman of the Tiwi Land Council.

We congratulate Austin on his election to such an important position and wish him all the best in the future.

We are very proud of what you have achieved Mr.Chairman and look forward to continuing our work on the Tiwi Islands to support people on the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

Today, Austin lives and works on the Tiwi Islands, supporting his own community through Balcor.

Meet Darren.

As one of our dedicated Support Workers, Darren is helping create a home away from home for participants staying at our respite house in Darwin.

Whether it’s for a short stay, a chance to recharge, or support while visiting from a remote community, our respite houses provide a safe, welcoming space where people are treated with dignity, respect and genuine care.

At Balcor, respite is more than accommodation. It’s about building confidence, creating connection, and making sure every participant feels comfortable, supported and culturally safe while they’re away from home.

Last Friday we had a staff training workshop in Milikapiti. This was for our staff who work on the Tiwi Islands to learn more about the NDIS and tips for supporting our participants in the area.

This week we farewelled Agnes.
Agnes has been with Balcor for 3 years now, beginning her journey as a Respite Support worker, moving on to be a NDIS remote support coordinator and then as expanded she become our Business Support Manager.
