NT Police, Fire & Emergency Services Personnel – Support is Available

If you're a member of NT Police, Fire & Emergency Services and need someone to talk to, I am available to see you at no cost to you through the current provider arrangements.

Whether you're experiencing work-related stress, burnout, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, grief, or simply need a confidential space to talk, support is available. It doesn't have to be about work.

I understand that frontline roles expose people to situations and experiences that most people will never encounter. Day after day, you are expected to manage critical incidents, trauma, and human suffering, while also navigating the challenges of everyday life.

My understanding comes not only from professional experience but also from lived experience. Before becoming a psychologist, I worked as a Correctional Officer and Intelligence Officer in Corrections, as well as within Immigration Detention Centres. I have seen firsthand the impact that high-stress environments can have on mental health, wellbeing, relationships, and resilience.

Seeking support is not a sign of weakness—it is an investment in your wellbeing.

Simply book an appointment with Tammy Hatherill, and I will take care of the rest.

You spend your career looking after others. Let someone look after you.

What a culturally enriching evening tonight was. 🖤💛❤️

I attended a beautiful Indigenous Art Exhibition (thanks Aboriginal Bush Traders) with my cuz here in Darwin, and I left feeling inspired, reflective and deeply connected to culture and community.

The exhibition featured incredible artists, including women from the same family — mother, daughter and granddaughters — each sharing their stories and creativity through their artwork. There was something incredibly powerful about seeing generations of culture, identity and storytelling woven together in one space.

Of course, I also couldn’t help myself when it came to the books. 📚

As a Tasmanian Aboriginal woman, I naturally gravitate towards books about our people, our history and our land. There are still so many misconceptions surrounding Tasmanian Aboriginal people — particularly the ongoing false belief that we were “wiped out.” Many of us are continually questioned about our authenticity because there are not many dark-skinned Tasmanian Aboriginal people remaining after the devastating impacts of colonisation and attempted genocide. Our survival is resilience.

Tonight I was especially drawn to a book exploring the history of Tasmanian Aboriginal people connected to Kangaroo Island. I also picked up a beautiful book about whales after hearing my cuz speak about recently returning from Country following an important ceremonial event involving whale.

And naturally… I found myself purchasing books around bush foods and traditional recipes too. 🌿

Culture, storytelling, art, food, healing and connection all intertwined in one evening — the kind of experiences that truly nourish social and emotional wellbeing.

To finish the night, Wayne and I headed to Soul Essence on the Bay for a light dinner and a quiet debrief about the evening.

Some nights feed the spirit in ways words can’t fully explain.

After spending the past week creating a brand new course and developing new content for it, tonight I’m taking a well-earned break and heading to an Indigenous Art Exhibition with my cuz . a fellow Tasmanian Aboriginal living here in Darwin. 🖤💛❤️

He’s an incredibly talented artist whose work is often available through Aboriginal Bush Traders, and he’s always encouraging me to submit some of my own artwork for sale too. I’m not quite confident enough for that yet… maybe one day. 😊

Still, I’m really looking forward to immersing myself in the creativity, stories and talent of the artists exhibiting tonight. There’s something so grounding and inspiring about Indigenous art and the way it connects culture, identity and spirit.

How is everyone spending their weekend?

Another great opportunity.

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend! 🌿✨

I’m spending my weekend being creative. As I’ve shared before, creativity is something that really helps me relax, recharge, and refocus. Whether it’s designing, writing, or creating new ideas, it brings me peace and joy.

What do you do to relax and unwind?

I’m also celebrating some significant progress that has taken years to reach. There’s still a little more to be done, but the end is finally in sight, and soon I will be able to truly flourish. "They" say patience is a virtue (but sometimes it's very challenging to be patient).

Here’s to healing, creativity, peace, and new beginnings 💛
