#𝘿𝑹𝙎𝑨𝘽𝑪𝘿
We had a great Saturday afternoon running CPR/Defib awareness sessions with our friends from Rotary Club of Warringah as part of 𝐑𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲'𝐬 𝐄𝐏𝐈𝐂 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞.
Many laughs and much learnt. If your community group would benefit from a similar program please reach out via our Website - we'll help where we can!
For a quick brush-up, 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒂 𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒌 𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑫𝑹𝑺𝑨𝑩𝑪𝑫 𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒑𝒔 𝒃𝒆𝒍𝒐𝒘. Hopefully you'll never need to use them, but it's great to be prepared:
𝑫𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒓 - Before you engage with the injured person, it’s best to assess the area for any dangers that may harm yourself, others or your patient.
𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒆 - Check your patient to see if they’re conscious by asking their name or squeezing their shoulders. If there is no response…
𝑺𝒆𝒏𝒅 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒉𝒆𝒍𝒑 - Call 000 for an ambulance. Send a bystander for an AED (Defibrilator).
𝑨𝒊𝒓𝒘𝒂𝒚 - Whilst waiting for help, open the mouth and check the airway of your patient. If there is an obstruction, roll the patient onto their side and clear their airway.
𝑩𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 - Check for breathing by looking, listening and feeling. If the patient is breathing, place in the recovery position, monitor their breathing, manage their injuries and treat for shock. If the patient isn’t breathing, you will need to begin CPR.
𝑪𝑷𝑹 - Perform 30 chest compressions followed by 2 rescue breaths. If you cannot perform rescue breaths, continue with the chest compressions. Target rate of 100-120 compressions per minute. For an infant use 2 fingers to compress the infants chest.
𝑫𝒆𝒇𝒊𝒃𝒓𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 - If available, engage defibrillator and follow the voice prompts.
