My brain loves instant gratification…… but printmaking has other ideas šŸŒæšŸ‚šŸ

In between clients, you’ll often find me back in my studio, experimenting, creating, and making just for the joy of it.
Today it’s printmaking… one of those wonderfully unpredictable processes that always keeps me curious. I love having this creative space to explore new ideas, play, and keep my own artist practice alive.
If you ever see something I’m creating that sparks your interest and you’d love to learn it yourself, send me a message. I’d be so happy to know what workshops you’d like to see—I might just put one together! šŸŽØšŸ’š

The card said ā€˜sanctuary’… and I knew exactly where I needed to be.
The other day I pulled a card that spoke of sanctuary, flow, creative force, and Mother Earth. It immediately made me think of my art studio.

After returning from a yoga retreat, I’ve found myself feeling especially grateful for my little studio sanctuary. Being away reminded me just how important this place is—not only for my own creativity and wellbeing, but hopefully for the people who share this therapeutic space with me through art therapy.

Lately I’ve been working on some personal creative projects inspired by Mother Earth and the tiny creatures that inhabit this planter beside me. It feels fitting that nature continues to find its way into my work.

So, I thought I’d invite you in for a little peek at a space I’m incredibly grateful for—a place of creativity, reflection, connection, and possibility. 🌿

Winter may have arrived, but beauty hasn’t gone anywhere. šŸ‚ā„ļø

This little collection of autumn leaves was gathered just before the season changed. As the colours fade from the trees and the days grow colder, I’m reminded that there is still so much beauty around us—if we pause long enough to notice it.

Nature has a way of inviting us to slow down, pay attention, and appreciate the small things: the colours, the textures, the crisp air, and the quiet moments in between.

As an arts therapist, I often notice how much inspiration and grounding can come from simply observing the world around us. Creativity doesn’t always begin with a blank page—it can begin with a leaf, a walk, or a moment of wonder.

Winter is here, but so is beauty. What have you noticed lately that made you stop and appreciate the season? šŸāœØ

What colour are your emotions? šŸŽØ
One of the things I love about art therapy is that it helps us bring what is happening inside to the outside. Thoughts, emotions, memories, and experiences that can feel tangled up in our minds suddenly have a place to land — on the page.

This art therapy directive invited me to explore and name my emotions, then give each one a colour. What colour is contentment? What shade is disappointment? If excitement had a palette, what would it look like?

As I worked, I was reminded that we rarely experience just one emotion at a time. We can feel relieved and disappointed, excited and anxious, content and longing — all simultaneously. Emotions are rarely neat or singular; they exist in layers.

Drawing these faces wasn’t about artistic skill or creating a perfect portrait. It was about slowing down, reflecting, and giving each feeling space to be seen. Interestingly, as I drew the expressions, it felt as though each emotion had its own voice and story to tell.

So much of our emotional life can stay trapped in repetitive thought patterns, rumination, or the endless scroll of our minds. Creative expression offers another pathway — one that invites curiosity rather than judgement.

How have your emotions been lately?
If you were to give each feeling a colour, what would they be? šŸ’šŸŽØ

Swipe left to view the outcomes of today’s workshop — sweet little birds 🐦✨

There’s something so special about the anticipation of meeting a new cohort of participants and stepping into a new creative space. Today marked the beginning of a 5-week journey with the Melton Council HAAC program, and already the room was filled with curiosity, connection, and gentle creativity.

I’m really looking forward to seeing what unfolds over the coming weeks. šŸ’›

These adorable dolls emerged spontaneously in this week’s art group. Following a participant’s lead, we explored how a simple idea can evolve when curiosity is supported and materials are made available.
Moments like this remind me that creativity doesn’t need to be directed—it unfolds. Through play, imagination, and shared process, each person finds their own way of expressing something meaningful.
It’s always a privilege to witness. ✨

Celebrating creativity, connection & community šŸŽØāœØ

There is something truly powerful about community-based art practice… it brings people together in a way that words sometimes can’t. Through shared creative experiences, we find connection, confidence, and a sense of belonging.

Over the past 7 weeks, I’ve had the absolute privilege of facilitating arts-based workshops with ADEC. Watching individuals show up, express themselves, and connect with one another has been incredibly special.

And in full transparency… I’ve grown too.
I’ve found my voice more. My knees don’t knock together as much, and I can actually catch my breath when I speak! šŸ˜„

These spaces don’t just support participants—they shape us as facilitators too.

To top it all off, there is now an exhibition of participant works at the Hunt Club Community Arts Centre, and a beautiful newspaper feature in the Brimbank Star Weekly, sharing the voices and experiences of those involved.

This is why I do what I do šŸ’›
Art has the power to bring people together—and when it does, something really meaningful unfolds.
