Does your little one make a high pitched noisy sound when feeding? Or when laying down?
This is my little guy feeding, now I thought 4th time around breastfeeding I knew all the things but then he came along and threw this at me. He’s incredibly noisy when feeding (this isn’t him at his worst), sometimes it can sound like he’s really struggling to breathe which can feel scary (thank goodness this wasn’t my 1st baby)!
So I didn’t know this was a thing but I’ve now found out this little man has laryngomalacia. It is the most common cause of noisy breathing (stridor) in infants, caused by soft, immature cartilage above the vocal cords collapsing during inhalation. Luckily most cases resolve on their own anywhere from 12months to 2 years old.
What we’re doing? We will continue regular adjustments - I’ve already noticed an improvement in his muscle tone and an improvement in his feeding although he’s still a bit noisy compared to ‘normal’.
