Christmas in July at Eliza Purton 🎄

The other week, everyone got together to enjoy a delicious Christmas in July lunch, surrounded by friends, good food and plenty of music.

A big thank you to Kerry Gillard for keeping everyone entertained throughout the day. It was a fantastic afternoon, well done to everyone who helped organise the event!

For the past six weeks, Costa House residents have been getting together to learn new drumming techniques and enjoy sessions full of rhythm, music and fun.

Led by Better Place Australia, the program included rhythmic games, improvising along to favourite songs. Kylie, Costa House's Social Care Coordinator, said: "It's been a great way to bring everyone together to enjoy music, while building confidence. It was fantastic to see everyone giving it a go!"

A big thank you to Maddie Smith, Dance and Movement Therapist from Better Place Australia, for organising the sessions.

McLean Care will soon be joining the Respect community.

McLean Care is a well-respected not-for-profit provider that has been supporting rural and regional communities for more than 65 years. The organisation operates residential aged care homes and retirement living villages across northern New South Wales and southern Queensland.

We're honoured that McLean Care has chosen to join Respect. Their strong community focus, commitment to quality care and values closely align with our own, and we look forward to welcoming their residents, clients, families and staff into our organisation.

This beautiful moment between Audrey and Alphvon at Avonlea deserves to be shared.

Resident Audrey recently took the time to type a beautiful letter for Personal Care Assistant Alphvon, thanking him for the care, kindness and support he shows every day. Such a thoughtful gesture that meant a great deal.

Thank you for everything you do, Alphvon.

❄ The Winter Wonderland Market transformed Coroneagh Park into a bustling marketplace!

The day was a brilliant opportunity to bring the community together. Residents, families, visitors, staff and volunteers stopped by to check out all the goods on offer. There were 11 stalls selling everything from handmade rugs, candles and bags to crystals, spices, raffle tickets and treats.

One of the biggest drawcards was the Penguin Op Shop, who made their first visit to Coroneagh Park. Residents loved this stall - browsing the clothing racks with a few bargains on offer.

Food trucks kept everyone well fed throughout the day, and congratulations go to resident G. Marshall, who had the winning raffle ticket. What a great day for all involved!

Yesterday, Aged Care Employee Day was a great chance to recognise every person who supports our communities with love, kindness, dignity and respect.

To all aged care workers: thank you again for the fun, the conversations, the relationships you build, the care you take and the difference you make.

July re-cap from Bayview Haven 📸

There have been rickshaw rides and scenic drives, PJ Day, live music, line dancing and a visit from the Sassy Steppers children's group. Residents also got creative with NAIDOC Week activities, sea-themed canvases and the Japanese art of Kinusaiga. Indoor bowls has continued to be a highlight on the activity calendar each Monday.

A special mention goes to Aunty Frances, who earned bragging rights after appearing on the front cover of our Winter magazine. Bring on all the fun for August!

Celebrating Our Aged Care Community

Every year on 7 August, Australia marks Aged Care Employee Day. It’s a chance to say thank you to the people who care for older Australians every single day.

At Respect, our nurses, clinical leaders, personal care assistants, allied health staff, social care teams, chefs, cleaners, maintenance teams, administration, support staff, volunteers and so many more make up our wonderful care community.

Currently in Australia there are around 456,000 aged care workers looking after 1.3 million older Australians using aged care services – it’s a workforce doing quiet work behind the scenes and it’s work that really matters.

On this Aged Care Employee Day, we want to shine a light and thank our people. Their compassion, patience, hard work and dedication make a real difference and make Respect the place it is. That deserves to be celebrated.

We asked some of our staff why they love what they do. Here's what they had to say...

💌 We’re sharing more of the thoughtful notes our residents have written for our staff. These messages highlight how much our people mean to the residents in our care.

Our people make Respect what it is - nurses, PCAs, clinical leaders, lifestyle teams, chefs, cleaners, maintenance, admin and volunteers. Every role matters and every person makes a difference.
