Last week our staff took residents to Birchip for the monthly bus trip. The usual haunts were visited. Looking at the Mallee Bull, Silo Art, War Memorial, and of course the highlight being a sit down in Sharp's Bakery, for some afternoon tea.

Goodwin Village celebrated Father's Day on Sunday September 6th 2026. All the men in residential care received a small pack (containing 'home made' biscuits and a Kit Kat - pictured) marking the day. Some even had their photos taken.

Today Srishti Rimal worked her last shift at Goodwin Village. Srishti has been on our staff for 3.5 years. She has been a wonderful employee for us - diligent, very caring, reliable, and a team worker. Srishti and her husband Manoj (who has been an engineer on the Buloke Shire) are moving to Echuca. We wish them both all the best and we thank Srishti for her time with us.

Due to the recent rainfall the Richardson River has been slowly rising. The water is getting close to running over the bridge in Camp Street. It will probably go over during tonight. As flood barriers are better erected on a dry road, the Buloke Shire have decided to close Camp Street, and construct at least the Goodwin Village barrier late today (Wednesday). We thank the Shire boys for their work. There is no flood threat at this stage, but their early preparation is appreciated.

Goodwin Village said goodbye to one of its long term staff members last night at the Bullock’s Head Tavern. Yvonne Lavell has been a cook at Goodwin Village for close to 25 years. Everyone connected with the organisation appreciates Yvonne’s cooking skills, dedication, teamwork, and reliability over that long period. Yvonne has retired now and we wish her & husband Shane all the best.

Goodwin Village hosted Aged Care Employee Day today. The Board of Management was keen to recognise the dedication of its staff on the day (August 7th) that the whole aged care industry celebrates the contribution of aged care employees. All 60 staff were given coffee/drink vouchers by the Board for use at our local cafes/bakery, and treated to a special morning and afternoon tea. Board Members also gave staff a card with a personal handwritten message thanking staff individually for their work.

Several Goodwin Village residents went on a bus trip to Warracknabeal yesterday (Thursday). They had afternoon tea at 'The Local 165'. After looking around the town, they headed back to Donald via Sheep Hills to look at the recently updated silo art.

Goodwin Village currently has an employment position for a Personal Carer. If they are qualified that is an advantage, but we are also prepared to provide free Certificate level training to the right applicant.
