Our Intergenerational Program continues to create meaningful connections between young people and older adults.

Each week, Year 11 students from Doncaster Secondary College visit residents at Cassia House and Doncaster Melaleuca Lodge, spending time chatting, sharing stories, playing games and building genuine friendships.

These visits bring energy, laughter and companionship to our residents, while giving students the opportunity to learn from the experiences and wisdom of older generations.

Thank you to the students and staff from Doncaster Secondary College for helping make these connections possible. We look forward to many more Tuesdays together. ✨

This week we celebrated our incredible volunteers as part of National Volunteer Week, with this year’s theme “Your Year to Volunteer.”

We are so grateful for the time, care and connection our volunteers bring to MannaCare every day. It shows in the conversations, the laughter, and the way they take the time to sit, listen and be present.

A sincere thank you to our special guests who joined us and spoke on the day, including Federal Member for Menzies, Gabriel Ng, and Deputy Mayor Deidre Diamante.

We also thank Meredith Hogan for sharing her reflections on 19 years of volunteering at MannaCare — a wonderful reminder of the lasting impact volunteers have across our community.

Thank you to everyone who supported the day, including our Board members and staff who helped bring it all together.

We are proud to celebrate our volunteers and the role they play across MannaCare every day.

As we head into the cooler months, it’s a good reminder to take a few extra steps to look after ourselves and those around us.

Good hand hygiene, staying up to date with vaccinations, keeping a safe distance where possible, and being mindful of symptoms all make a real difference.

If you’re feeling unwell, please stay home and take the time to rest and recover.

Small actions help keep our whole community safe and well.

Rain, smiles and a strong sense of purpose as our MannaCare team joined just under 3,000 others to stand up for those living with dementia.

This morning, our MannaCare team joined just under 3,000 others for the Memory Walk & Jog.

The rain didn’t stop us, if anything it made the experience even more special. We were proud to show up, walk together and support such an important cause.

We are proud to stand together for those living with dementia and to play our part in raising awareness and support.

Thank you to everyone who sponsored and donated. Your support is helping fund research, advocacy and services for those living with dementia and their families.

We’re so grateful to be part of something bigger.

As we celebrate National Volunteer Week 2026 from 18–24 May across Australia, we recognise the incredible impact volunteers make in our communities every day.

This year’s message highlights that volunteering can bring connection, meaning and a sense of purpose, while reminding us that everyone has something valuable to offer. No matter your skills, experience or availability, there are many ways to get involved and make a difference.

At MannaCare, we are deeply grateful for the kindness, generosity and dedication of our volunteers who continue to enrich the lives of our seniors in the community

Residents from both homes got out for a walk along Brighton Beach this week.

Fresh air, a bit of sunshine and a change of scenery did everyone good. Plenty of chats, a few laughs and a nice way to spend time together outside.

Some people have a special gift with words, and our DML resident Don Collins is certainly one of them.

Don is a talented author who has published his own books and continues to generously share his writing with the MannaCare community. We are always grateful when he shares his beautiful work with us.

This Mother’s Day, Don wrote a heartfelt poem that captures love, gratitude and reflection in such a meaningful way. We are honoured to share it with you all.
