“I’ll do what I want… once I’ve done everything I have to do.”

For some people, that sentence isn’t just a habit.

It’s the way their whole life has become organised.

They become incredibly capable of carrying responsibility, meeting expectations and looking after everyone else.

But somewhere along the way, they stop asking a simple question:

What do I want?

Not because they don’t care.

Because they’ve learnt they need to earn the right to choose.

The problem is that “enough” rarely arrives.

There is always another responsibility.

Another expectation.

Another obligation.

So choice gets postponed.

Again.

And again.

Growth doesn’t ask us to abandon responsibility.

It asks us to build something many of us never realised was missing:

The capacity to comfortably follow our own desires without feeling we have to earn permission first.

Sometimes the greatest freedom isn’t having fewer responsibilities.

It’s remembering that your life belongs to you too.

Every person you meet is searching for something.

Sometimes it’s obvious.

Sometimes it isn’t.

One person pursues success.
Another longs for love.
Someone else seeks truth, justice, purpose or peace.

On the surface, our lives can look completely different.

Yet underneath our different goals is the same human longing—to become more fully ourselves.

When we remember that, it changes how we see each other.

Perhaps the paths we walk are different…

but the journey is far more shared than we realise.

Not every form of manipulation looks obvious.

Sometimes it doesn’t begin with control.

It begins with confusion.

You start questioning your instincts.
Wondering if you remembered things correctly.
Apologising for things you didn’t do.

The greatest victory isn’t winning an argument.

It’s refusing to lose yourself in someone else’s version of reality.

This is one of the deeper psychological themes explored throughout Lies Within Darkness—a story inspired by actual events.

Yep! I changed to a natural bristle toothbrush. Anything that decreases microplastics in our bodies is a good thing.

All the years l have worked with people, one thing has stood out. How people think influences their decisions and the outcome of those decisions.

Some thinking keep us stuck. Some keep us anxious. Others are empowering.

The Four Thinking Styles is the topic for this months Brainz Magazine article. I hope you enjoy it. 😊🙏🏼

Have you ever been told you think too much? Perhaps you’ve replayed a conversation long after it ended. Maybe you’ve imagined every possible outcome before making a decision or found yourself returning...

We hear it all the time - eat more cruciferous vegetables!

But why?
For the sulforaphane.

What’s so special about sulforaphane?
If you want to get to the core of your health then it’s about cellular function and your genetics. 🧬 This is where sulforaphane comes into play.
It may improve heart health, diabetes, cancer and digestion.

But here’s the trick, just eating more broccoli, 🥦 bok choy, 🥬 cabbage or kale isn’t always enough.

Cutting, chopping, chewing, or lightly steaming (no more than 3 minutes) helps release the myrosinase enzymes. They are vital for the conversion of glucoraphanin into sulforaphane.

Or add mustard seeds for the same effect and it’s tasty!

Some relationships aren’t built on conflict.

They’re built on an unconscious dance where…

One person reaches.
The other retreats.

Neither understands why.

Growth begins when we start asking, “What keeps this dance alive?”

Because when our emotional needs are no longer carried by another person…

The dance ends.

How much invisibility have you quietly learned to carry?

Most of us don’t wake up one day and decide to accept being overlooked.

It happens gradually.

We explain it away.

We minimise it.

We tell ourselves not to make a fuss.

Eventually, being interrupted, spoken over, forgotten or left out no longer feels unusual.

It simply feels familiar.

That doesn’t mean it’s healthy.

Growth isn’t about making everyone notice you.

It’s about becoming less willing to disappear inside your own life.

Sometimes the healthiest thing we can say is:

“I’d like to finish what I was saying.”

Or…

“I don’t feel heard.”

Because self-respect isn’t about being louder than everyone else.

It’s about no longer accepting your own invisibility.
