Liza Twohill Holistic Health Naturopath, mentor, speaker. Advocate for regional and remote health. I want a more resilient regional Australia where chronic disease is not a reality

At Liza Twohill ( name change from Macquarie Natural Health), our focus is on tailoring individualized care to meet your health and lifestyle needs. We won't set targets that you will never reach. We give you the tools to make positive changes to the most important person in your life - you! The human body has an innate ability to heal if given the right environment. It is designed to win, not los

e. We use appropriate scientific testing to identify these changes and provide safe and effective professional treatment to help you achieve your optimal health so you can stay happy, healthy and strong. Liza Twohill brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her patients. Liza has a long association with complementary medicine and is passionate about finding the underlying problem to a patient's health issues, rather than looking for a quick fix. As a child, Liza's family embarked on a journey using both western medicine and naturopathic medicine to assist her father with a life altering health problem. This gave her an insight into how both medicines can work together to resolve chronic health problems and an appreciation of the importance of a healthy diet and balanced lifestyle in providing the right environment to allow the body to heal. Liza has a Bachelor of Health Science in Complementary Medicine and Advanced Diploma qualifications in Naturopathy, Herbal Medicine, Homeopathy and Nutrition. She has a passion for learning and regularly attends training and international conferences to extend her knowledge and keep abreast of current trends. As a nutritionist and naturopath, Liza is among a growing body of health professionals determined to understand the complex web of chronic health problems and work together to bring a more holistic, individualized and self empowering approach to medicine. Liza has worked in the health sector since 1995 and brings a wealth of knowledge understanding and practicality to her patients. She is known for her determination to get to the bottom of a problem and is clear about her role to empower, educate and facilitate each person through their health journey. She is a member of the following professional associations:

■Australian Traditional Medicine Society (ATMS 8800)
■National Herbal Association of Australia (NHAA)
■MINDD Foundation
■Australian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine (ACNEM)

A massive few days away from clinic and my last conference for the year.

This conference was different to my norm. Another other part of my life is volunteering my time with Naturopaths & Herbalist Association of Australia (NHAA) and I attended the Association’s Forum.

Hundreds of delegates, all different industries, all collectively learning how to run associations better, improve member experience, advocacy, governance and ultimately helping each other to make a difference.

I’m now exhausted and sitting at the airport, on route home and back to running my small business.

Thank you Geelong, what a beautiful city.

There was a time when every flight or long car trip I took was for clinic, conferences, or growing my business.

These days, some of those flights are taking me into rooms where decisions are made. Rooms where I can advocate for better health outcomes for the profession I care deeply about.

It is an incredible privilege, and one I never take for granted.

Running a small business while stepping into leadership and advocacy is a constant juggle. Some days it feels seamless. Other days it requires a whole lot of flexibility, trust and support from the people around me.

I’m grateful that after more than 25 years in practice, I have the opportunity to contribute beyond the walls of my clinic and help shape conversations that matter for regional healthcare. Every conversation, every meeting and every kilometre travelled reminds me why this work is worth it.

This dirt road wasn't just a road. It was my playground.

As a child, I'd ride my bike through these sugar cane paddocks, wander for hours, and create adventures with nothing more than my imagination, a couple of brothers and the occasional friend.

There was no destination.
No map.
No fitness tracker.
No expectation to achieve anything.

Just movement.
Fresh air.
Curiosity.
Freedom.

Looking back, I realise those adventures weren't about the bike or the road. They were about how they made me feel. I felt alive, present and connected to the world around me.

As adults, movement often becomes another task on our to-do list. Something we squeeze in because we know we "should."

But what if movement didn't have to be another obligation?
What if it became a way of reconnecting with yourself?

I've been reflecting on this a lot lately, and it's one of the reasons I'm so passionate about rediscovering movement through nature, curiosity and shared experiences.

Not to train harder.
Not to achieve more.
Simply to remember the joy of moving because it feels good.

Does anyone else have these shared memories of connecting with nature or movement that made you feel alive?

I would love to know what activity made you feel free when you were younger?

A worldwind trip to Sydney for an evening of learning.

Clinic in the morning, lunchtime flight, learning more about microbiome health, up at dawn to fly home and back in clinic in the afternoon.

It is not easy living regionally, you have to keep making an effort to keep developing and connecting with fellow colleagues.

This trip was so worth it. So many pearls of wisdom and clinical applications. It is such an honour to mentor these young pups 🫶🫶.

Thank you Trace for being the best uber & support crew, promise you can come next time.

Thank you RN Labs for an excellent evening.

Have you ever stopped to wonder when life became all about responsibility? I know I did.

Most women I meet aren't looking for more to do.

They're looking for the version of themselves that somehow became quieter over the years.

The woman who loved being outdoors.
Who found joy in simple moments.
Who laughed easily.
Who embraced adventure without needing a reason.

Life doesn't ask us to let go of those parts of ourselves all at once.

It happens gradually.

One commitment.
One deadline.
One responsibility.
One season of putting everyone else first.

Before we realise it, we've become incredibly capable... but we've forgotten what makes us feel truly alive.

The beautiful thing is this.
That part of you hasn't disappeared.
She may simply be waiting for an invitation to emerge again.

This week, I'd love to invite you to remember.
What activity, place or experience makes you feel most like you?

I'd love to hear in the comments. Sometimes your answer might inspire another woman to reconnect with something she's forgotten too.

There was probably a time when adventure didn't need planning.
You'd jump on your bike.
Go for a bushwalk.
Watch the sunset.
Drive somewhere just because.

Then life became full.
Careers.
Children.
Parents.
Responsibilities.

Somewhere along the way, adventure became another thing you didn't have time for.
What did adventure look like for you when you were younger? I would love to know

Elite athletes in training after work 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Trace and Shenae are training for a half marathon in September. They were so generous and invited me in an after work jog.

Little did they know they were hanging out with an elite athlete 🤣.

Happy days, keeping life real.

There have been a lot of airports, conference rooms, conversations and celebrations over the past few months.

As I looked back through these moments, I realised they all had one thing in common. They reminded me that growth rarely happens in isolation.

It happens when we say yes to opportunities that stretch us.
When we introduce ourselves to someone new.
When we share ideas instead of holding them back.
When we dance, laugh and don’t take ourselves too seriously.
When we celebrate the people walking alongside us.
And when we honour our boundaries so we have the energy to keep showing up.

Sometimes we spend so much time wondering if we’re enough that we forget the people who need what only we can bring.

Whatever season you’re in, this is your reminder.

Put yourself out there.
Stay curious.
Protect your peace.
Trust your voice.

What you have is enough.

I have been struggling with the short days of winter.

Cold mornings have just begun which are a beautiful part of winter. I am lucky to live in a location that gives us glorious big blue skies and sunshine during the day.

My struggle is fitting in time to get sunshine, nature and time to move. I was lucky today a patient moved their appointment and I had a solid break to go for a much needed walk.

It got me thinking again on how can I fit a little sunshine, movement and mental space during my working day now that our days are shorter.

Love to hear if anyone changes their routines in winter?
