There is one confirmed case of COVID-19 in the Western NSW Local Health District (WNSWLHD), in the Dubbo Regional local government area. They are in isolation.

The case was identified after they became symptomatic on 9 August and were tested on 10 August. Nine close contacts who have been identified to date, are in isolation, and either have been tested, or will be tested as soon as possible. Investigations and contact tracing is continuing.

It is not yet known how transmission occurred. Fragments of Covid-19 have been detected in Dubbo sewage samples taken on August 3 and August 5.

While Dubbo residents are urged to limit their movements in the community at this time, widespread Covid-19 testing is critical.
The WNSWLHD is increasing testing capacity at the drive through testing clinic at the Dubbo Showground, opening at 8am. Enter via Wingewarra Street.

The COVID SAFE clinic at the Manera Plaza, 77 Myall Street has undergone intensive cleaning and will be operating as normal between 8am and 4.30pm, seven days a week.

Please note that Covid-19 testing is not available at Dubbo Base Hospital. This service has been relocated to the COVID SAFE testing clinic at Manera Plaza.

Anyone in Dubbo who is currently experiencing even mild cold-like symptoms is asked to come forward immediately for testing. Other concerned residents, and people who may have recently experienced cold-like symptoms are also urged to be tested.

Additional testing services are also being established at Wellington Health Service, opening from 10am.

Visitor restrictions will be implemented at both Dubbo Base and Wellington hospitals.

Having a regular and positive relationship with a GP is particularly important for those living with a blood cancer, as you will have regular contact with them as they monitor your condition. Your GP will also receive regular correspondence from your specialists and treating team, to stay up-to-date with your condition. This will result in your GP becoming a great source of information for you on your condition and advising any allied health services you may require.

The Leukaemia Foundation is the only national charity in Australia dedicated to assisting those with leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma, MDS, MPN, Waldenstrรถm's macroglobulinaemia, aplastic anaemia, amyloidosis, and related blood-disorders survive and live a better quality of life.

This week is hearing awareness week which tries to raise awareness of the issues a vast number of people face who suffer from hearing loss.
Did you know that one in every six Australians experience hearing loss or having a chronic ear disorder? Almost 4 million people in Australia have some form of hearing loss. This continues to grow as our population ages.

It is highly important to get your ears tested.

The Australian Government aims to have as many people vaccinated as soon as possible in 2021. Identified priority groups will get the first available safe and effective doses of vaccines. More people will have access to a vaccine as more doses become available throughout 2021.

Australiaโ€™s COVID-19 vaccines will become available in phases. Priority groups have been identified using public health, medical and epidemiological evidence. This includes people that would be at higher risk of serious illness if they contracted COVID-19, and those most likely to be exposed to it.

Bowel Cancer is Australia's second biggest cancer killer. But it can be treated if detected early.

The Australian Government introduced the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program (NBCSP) to reduce the number of deaths from bowel cancer in Australia. Eligible people aged 50-74 will receive a faecal immunochemical test (FIT) in the mail which is then sent back to the laboratory for analysis.

Do the Test when it comes in the post. Early detection can save lives.

Australia has one of the highest incidence of bowel cancer in the worldโ€”find out why screening is important and how you can take part in the bowel screening program.
