Hello Friends!

Next month I’ll be going over what is drainage and what is detox.

Supporting our detoxification system is imperative on the GAPS protocol.

These days our exposure to toxins are high and the toxins created within us, need help with elimination. The amount we encounter on a daily basis is often much more than we can handle on our own, especially if there’s any sort of break down in this area.

Drainage and detox support is not only for the GAPS person, it is beneficial to everyone.

Please come along if you want to know more, what can be done and also a demonstration on a delicious food that is used to support detoxification also.

When : Thursday 3rd July 2026
Time: 6pm - 7.30pm
Where : Naturaliste Health Dunsborough
Cost: $25 pp

We are all having plenty of these three foods right now, especially coming into the “cold & flu” season.

💥 OYSTERS
💥 MEAT STOCK
💥 KRAUT JUICE

Oysters - of of the best sources of food based zinc
Meat Stock - for strengthening/rebuilding the epithelial layer of the gut
Kraut Juice - high Vit C and beneficial microbes

I believe we often get sick around now as the seasons change, less time outside = less Vit D, we are nearing the end of school term = tired & rundown and perhaps not jumping into the ocean or fresh water which is super detoxifying and regenerating.

Food isn’t the whole picture but it’s highly supportive. I think of food as a tool given to the body - therefore it has what it needs to work effectively.

It’s been a while since I’ve done a lunchbox post…

My kids LOVE these koftas - I roll them up and cook in the BBQ before school.
I open a few liver capsules and sprinkle them in (my kids actually eat these whole!) and add cumin, parsley, garlic powder, S&P.

I found these olives in olive oil as a snack pack (ours aren’t quite ready yet) - good fats!

The chocolate cake is high protein and good fats with coconut cream, coconut flour, lots of eggs, MCT - reach out if you want the recipe 🙌🏼

Random crackers thrown in by my son 😂 but I’d usually slice some cheese up or put some hummus in to dip those in.

And whose kids love the skin left on their kiwi fruit? Mine do but only with these golden ones - high Vit C for immune support

I’ve also been giving the kids sauerkraut juice shots to keep their probiotics up during this time when many kiddos go down with illness.

The meat that you’ve used to make stock can be used so many ways.

You can let it cool and shred it to pop back in as soup, freeze it or my favourite way is to pop it into a HOT oven covered liberally with spices and crisped up.

This takes no time and I love to toss a bunch of greens in a pan to serve alongside.

The chicken is soooo tender inside and crispy on the outside - divine!

I hope you’ve been making meat stock regularly. It’s a foundational GAPS food and so delicious!

BEEF CHEEKS - affordable, delicious, tender and nutritious!

I have just over 1kg of beef cheeks here and it fed 5 of us generously with leftovers.

I love using cuts that aren’t as popular - maybe these are but I know many of you haven’t cooked these…

I browned the cheeks in tallow, popped them in the slow cooker, sautéed the veg, threw those in with some S&P on top, beef meat stock and dried thyme.

After 4 hours on high, I threw in some peas. You could add mushies, cauliflower or some broccolini.

I served ours shredded, with some warmed fermented GAPS “bread” with loads of butter and homemade sour cream.

What a delight, inexpensive and tasty, hearty meal! 🙌🏼

Sauerkraut!

You literally chop the cabbage up, add salt, mix it, leave it for a few hours then massage and pop it into whatever anaerobic vessel you want to use.

I won’t see this batch now for a MINIMUM of 4 weeks, possibly longer but it’s so worth it.

Homemade sauerkraut is teeming with good bacteria once finished and a small amount with most meals does wonders for our microbiome and digestion 🙌🏼

Thank you again for those of you who made it to my 4th session!

This one was on GAPS Intro and as I’ve been going through this protocol, I’m hoping it makes sense.

So far I’ve covered the microbiome and gut lining, how keeping the environment and epithelial integrity is crucial for optimal function and robust health.

I’ve talked about some of the conditions which we consider a GAPS issue, what’s going on and how the GAPS protocol comes into it.

Full GAPS was covered in the third series - this is very much a wholefood version, still very healing and nourishing and often the protocol we begin people on.

My last one went over GAPS Intro. Often using Full GAPS to help transition onto Intro because lots of healing has already taken place. Intro can be used after acute illness, used as a reset or for specific conditions.

I’ve also demonstrated some of the foundational foods that are prepared on GAPS;

Sauerkraut
Meat Stock
Beetroot Kvass
Sour Cream

All attendees get the chance to watch, taste, ask questions and sometimes take something home.

These monthly catch ups bring me so much joy and I am deeply grateful for the support and being able to break it down and just get together with you all.

Of course this couldn’t happen without the space! have allowed me to use the shop, bringing us together and where I can do demos - it couldn’t be more fitting.

I looked back at what GAPS has helped us with over the last year or so and not only has it supported myself and my family but I’ve been able to teach, share and help others.

Here are some things that have improved • resolved • supported • or that I’ve learnt …

~ Constant skin flares
~ Persistent dry, swollen lips
~ Hair loss
~ Staph Infection
~ Detoxification
~ Teaching and sharing with my community
~ Blood sugar balance/more protein/satiation
~ Clearing liver congestion
~ Resolving constipation
~ Getting outside more often
~ Connection with my family

GAPS is not only healing foods, it is fixing function, it is nervous system regulation, detox and drainage support, it’s there to hold your hand and to fall back onto when times are tough or something just needs that bit extra.

This page has always been to share better habits and not everything is GAPS but I think we could include a little bit of GAPS in our every day or dive right in when absolutely prepared. I share because I believe in it.

Reach out if you want to learn more - I do monthly workshops, in-person consultations or telehealth. Otherwise you’ll find me chatting about nutrition, sharing recipes or making fun reels right here

The request - spaghetti bolognese (aka “spag bol”)

The ingredients - nutrient density

The result - all eaten

Hidden goodness - liver

Did they taste it? No. But we do eat organ meat regularly. “Spag bol” is the PERFECT dish to add a little extra nutrient dense goodness into.

It’s here! This one was moved from last month and I’ve tried to make these sessions more available to others so they can come along.

This one is on GAPS Intro… it may come as a surprise to know it’s not the one we predominantly start on and it can be useful in some situations.

You can book via my bio or on the workshops section of website.

I hope to see some of you there! 6pm Thursday 🤍
