Not sure what to ask your chiropractor? Start with these questions.

The best appointments are a conversation, not a one-way explanation.

Here are a few questions that can help you better understand your care:

πŸ’¬ What do you think is contributing to my symptoms?

πŸ’¬ What are my options, and what can I realistically expect?

πŸ’¬ How will we measure my progress over time?

πŸ’¬ Is there anything I can do at home to support my recovery?

πŸ’¬ When should I check back in if my symptoms change?

There are no "silly" questions when it comes to your health. A good chiropractor should be happy to explain their findings, answer your questions, and help you understand the reasoning behind their recommendations.

The more you understand your care, the more confident you can feel in the decisions you make.

There's no one-size-fits-all approach to chiropractic care.

Everyone comes to our clinic with different goals, and that's exactly how it should be.

Some people are looking for support during a new injury. Others want to improve their movement, stay active, or manage the physical demands of work or sport. Some prefer to come in only when something flares up.

All of these are valid approaches.

The most important step is having an open conversation with your chiropractor about what you want to achieve.

When we understand your goals, we can explain the options available and work with you to develop a care plan that's both realistic and achievable for your lifestyle, schedule, and budget.

Your goals may also change over time, and that's okay too. As your needs change, your care can change with them.

The best care plans aren't based on assumptions. They're built around open communication, informed decisions, and a shared understanding of what matters most to you.

Choosing a chiropractor? Here are a few green flags to look for.

Finding the right chiropractor isn't just about convenience, it's about feeling informed, comfortable, and confident in your care.

Here are a few good signs:

βœ… They take the time to listen.
Your concerns, health history, and goals should all be part of the conversation.

βœ… They perform a thorough assessment.
Recommendations should be based on your individual findings, not a one-size-fits-all approach.

βœ… They explain things clearly.
You should understand what they've found, what they recommend, and have the opportunity to ask questions.

βœ… They discuss your goals.
Whether you're recovering from an injury, looking to stay active, or simply want occasional care, your treatment should reflect what's important to you.

βœ… They encourage informed decisions.
You should never feel pressured. A good chiropractor will explain your options and work with you to develop a plan that's realistic for your lifestyle, schedule, and budget.

At the end of the day, the right chiropractor is someone who listens, communicates well, and partners with you to help you work towards your health goals.

Why are follow-up appointments important?

Getting back on track after an injury or addressing ongoing discomfort is rarely about one appointment.

Each visit gives your chiropractor the opportunity to see how your body is responding, monitor your progress, and adjust your care if needed.

These appointments help your chiropractor:

+ track changes in your symptoms and movement
+ assess how you're responding to care
+ identify any new concerns early
+ update recommendations based on your progress

Think of it like following a map. If you only check your direction once, it's easy to drift off course. Regular check-ins help make sure you're continuing to move towards your health goals.

What happens during a Chiropractic Progress Review?

A progress review is an opportunity to see how your body has responded to your care plan, not just how you feel, but what has changed over time.

Here's how it works:

1️⃣ Your care begins
After your initial assessment, your chiropractor may recommend a personalised care plan based on your examination findings. As part of this process, we'll take your baseline posture photos, and record any related factors.

2️⃣ You complete your care plan
Over the course of your visits, your chiropractor records your progress, monitors your response to care, and makes adjustments where appropriate.

3️⃣ Your final appointment
At the end of your care plan, you'll complete a short questionnaire about the changes you've noticed since starting care. We'll also take a new set of posture photos so they can be compared with your original images.

4️⃣ Your Progress Review
At your next appointment, your chiropractor will have reviewed:

~ your original and updated posture photos
~ your examination findings
~ notes recorded throughout your care plan
~ the feedback you provided in your questionnaire

Together, you'll go through your results, discuss the changes you've experienced, and compare your progress from where you started.

5️⃣ Your next steps
Based on your progress and goals, your chiropractor will discuss the next recommendations for your care, ensuring you have a clear understanding of where you are and where to go from here.

A progress review is designed to measure change, answer your questions, and make informed decisions about your ongoing care.

How much time do you spend in the car each week?

Here are a few simple adjustments that can make driving more comfortable:

+ Sit close enough that your knees stay slightly bent when using the pedals.
+ Adjust the backrest so you're sitting upright, not slouched or overly reclined.
+ Keep your headrest level with the back of your head.
+ Sit with your hips as far back into the seat as possible, allowing the seat to support your lower back.

Small changes to your driving position can help reduce unnecessary strain and make long trips a little easier on your body.

Tension has a way of creeping up on us.

A busy week at work, long hours at a desk, physical labour, or even everyday stress can leave your muscles feeling tight before you even realise it.

The good news? Small habits can help.

Try incorporating a few minutes each day of:

+ slow, controlled breathing
+ gentle stretching
+ a short walk
+ mindfulness or quiet time away from screens

These simple techniques can help your body relax and may reduce the feeling of built-up muscle tension.

If you're finding that tightness in your neck, shoulders, or back keeps returning despite your best efforts, it may be worth having your movement and posture assessed to identify what else could be contributing.

Sometimes, the biggest improvements come from combining healthy daily habits with understanding how your body is moving.

You don't always need to work harder, sometimes you just need to move differently.

Repetitive strain often isn't caused by one big movement. It's the result of doing the same movement, in the same way, hundreds or even thousands of times.

Whether you're typing, lifting, driving, using tools, or working around the house, giving your body regular opportunities to change position can make a difference.

A few simple habits include:

+ changing your posture throughout the day
+ taking short movement breaks
+ alternating tasks where possible
+ stretching areas that feel tight

Your body is designed to move. The more variety you give it, the better it can manage the demands you place on it.

If you're noticing recurring aches or stiffness from work or everyday activities, it may be worth having your movement patterns assessed to identify where extra strain might be building up.

Ever wake up feeling like your body hasn't recovered, even after a full night's sleep?

Sleep isn't just about feeling rested, it's when much of your body's recovery takes place.

While you sleep, your body is busy:

+ repairing and rebuilding tissues
+ recovering from physical activity
+ supporting normal muscle function
+ preparing you for the next day

If you're consistently waking up feeling stiff, tired, or like your body hasn't recovered, it might be worth looking at more than just your exercise routine.

Movement, nutrition, hydration, stress, and sleep all work together. When one piece is missing, the others have to work harder.

At our clinic, we see recovery as more than just treatment, it's about helping your body cope with the demands of everyday life.

Sometimes, the best thing you can do for your body is simply get a good night's sleep.
