The last day began with a 2 hour detour. I went anyway. Because 18 months of resistance had taught me: the bigger the obstacle before something sacred, the more worth it whatās waiting on the other side.
What was waiting was St. Brigid.
Before you swipe I need you to understand something about this flame.
This is a flame carried by women, through devotion, through persecution, through a Reformation that tried to extinguish it by force, for over 15 hundrd years.
In shamanic cosmology fire is the element of transformation. When you receive fire from a sacred source youāre not just receiving heat. Youāre receiving a lineage. An unbroken thread of feminine devotion stretching back through every hand that tended it before yours.
Brigid held 3 flames:
š„ Healing ā the medicine in womenās hands & bodies
š„ Poetry ā the prophetic voice, the truth-telling
š„ The forge ā where grief & wound become medicine
And she was the goddess of fertility.
Not just the fertility of children ā though that too, always that too. The fertility of ideas. Of creative power. Of the womb as the seat of a womanās medicine her intuition, her ability to bring things into being.
This is what I do. This is what I am rebranding around. The returning of what was taken. The rekindling of the creative, fertile, sovereign feminine fire that has been managed and suppressed for centuries.
Womb healing. Fertility of body and soul. The medicine Brigid has always held.
She wasnāt a coincidence on this pilgrimage. She was a confirmation.
My great-nan had her flame extinguished by the same institution that extinguished Brigidās. The Magdalene Laundry. Women whose fertility, whose bodies, whose creative fire were controlled without their consent.
And here I am. Her great-granddaughter. Lighting my candle from the flame they tried to put out. Carrying it into my womb healing work. Carrying it forward.
Every woman who sits in my medicine space from here forward sits in the light of Brigidās flame.
Now you know. š„š§š¹
