Our Director Cat is proud to be a Board member for AGOSCI inc who are busy preparing the National Tour and 2027 conference. AGOSCI stands for Australian Group Supporting Communication Inclusion and are focused on providing support, advocacy and education around inclusive communication. This fits with the values of The Communication Clinic of providing holistic, evidence based and capacity building services so the clinic has maintained membership for many years and has obtained Organisational Membership again for 2026. We provide membership like this to ensure our clinicians are supported with the latest evidence and insights into AAC and inclusive communication supports.
If you’re a parent, professional or business who has signed up please share your reasons and let’s spread the word what a great community
AGOSCI is to be part of. Thanks Solid Foundations Therapy for kickstarting this sharing.

Earlier than expected, but he is doing so well. They’re soaking up every moment with their beautiful boy and he’s already keeping them on their toes and showing glimpses of his cheeky personality. We’re sending lots of love and hugs to our newest cutie TCC family member and Merrin from everyone.

It’s been an industrious week at the clinic this week. On top of our usual client work, to support the people who use our services and the local communities we have:
✅ Advocated with the MPs office to NDIS re: 6 year olds being removed from NDIS with no other supports in place due to not having a diagnosis.
✅ Submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI) to provide Thriving Kids Services in NSW via DCJ
✅ Provided a submission about the impacts to people accessing our services and the community, around the proposed legislation amendments in the Securing NDIS for Future Generations Bill.
✅ Commenced a Grant Application to increase our Early Intervention services to the rural areas we service.

If you are part of TCC community please reach out with any questions. If your child is a client and has been impacted by removal from the scheme at 6 years old please message us so we can add your case to the advocacy we have been doing. We are noticing an increase in this at present which appears to be in preparation for Thriving Kids. We understand families are on long waitlists for assessment which they have to pay for privately at a significant cost, so this isn’t an option for everyone.

It’s been a busy year for The Communication Clinic already. We are excited to announce that last week at the AGOSCI AGM, our Director Cat was selected to be a Director on the Board of Directors for the charitable organisation AGOSCI (how many time can you fit Director into sentence!). Having been a member on and off over the years with AGOSCI, since graduating in 1999, and held the position of New South Wales AGOSCI state representative at the commencement of NDIS rollout, Cat has a long association with the organisation and is looking forward to working alongside members and the board to support people with complex communication needs across Australia.

This is an important reminder for all of our Communication Clinic community. The Federal Government have put forward new legislative changes that will result in significant power for the government e.g. the Health Minister to cut access categories to the NDIS as they feel needed, to cut social and community participant budgets by 50% and capacity building daily activities (that’s us, speech and OT, PT, Psych etc) by 10%, access based on function not diagnosis via an assessment completed by NDIA assessor’s etc. These changes aren’t based on good evidence or individual data just the areas they feel they can trim the most. This is rushed legislation being introduced without consultation. We encourage everyone to complete a submission here https://www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Business/Committees/Senate/Community_Affairs/NDISFutureGenBill

It doesn’t have to be fancy or long just your concerns about one or all of the proposed legislation changes. Not one of us knows if or when we will end up with a disability, have a child with a disability or family member who needs support. This is about ensuring the future of the NDIS by making sure the people who need it the most have access.
To find out more on the impact to participants Sam at thegrowingspaceaustralia has created a range of reels that steps through the changes. One of the most concerning changes is outlined in this reel - link: https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1P4uz5Q7FA/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Lest we forget.
Grab a cuppa and sit in a peaceful place to truly let this moving Australian last post was over you. Today we are honouring all Australian armed forces service people, including our often unrecognised First Nations armed forces members past and present. We reflect on the sacrifice of past and current serving members of our armed forces and are grateful for the freedoms we have today as a result of their sacrifices. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/18gcQMpvqf/?mibextid=wwXIfr
