🤹‍♀️ Happy World Juggling Day, you're already a juggling legend

When I stopped at a red traffic light today, there was a juggling busker standing right in front of the stopped cars, and probably no one else was aware that it was World Juggling Day, but I did and here's a little bit of information about it!

Fun fact: juggling has been around for thousands of years.

Ancient Egyptians did it for entertainment…
Chinese warriors did it for focus…
Medieval performers did it for coins…

And here you are, doing it for survival.

Because newborn parenting is basically the Olympics of juggling:

One feed done, one burp cloth missing

Baby in one arm, cold coffee in the other

Rocking, shushing, bouncing, praying

Trying to remember the last time you ate something that wasn’t toast

Still trying to have a shower and it's already time for dinner

And somehow answering texts with your toes

Honestly, if anyone deserves a standing ovation today, it’s you.

Professional jugglers drop balls sometimes,
so if you drop a load of washing, a plan, a thought, or your sanity for a moment…
you’re still doing better than 99% of the circus.

Take a bow today
You’re juggling life, love, and a tiny human and that's no small feat.

💛 Chaos, comedy, and cuddles… that’s the newborn season.

The Easier Birth Method's: Essential Toolkit For
Labour & Birth

👃 2. Smell Is A Powerful Pathway to Calm

Smell is one of the fastest ways to influence your
nervous system.
A familiar and comforting scent can instantly shift you
into a feeling of safety and softness.

Supportive scents for labour:

• Fresh linen or a favourite piece of clothing
• Your favourite purefume essential oil that you can roll
on to your pulse points
• A familiar essential oil that you can inhale straight
from the bottle

• A comforting smell from home (your pillow or a
favourite blanket)

How to use smell intentionally:

• Bring a small cloth with your chosen scent to inhale
• Use a diffuser (if allowed in the birthing unit - you will
need to check with your midwife) with a gentle safe
essential oil aroma that you love
• Ask your partner to offer the scent to you during
labour this can be an anchor to focus
• Smell your pillow or blanket for grounding
• Use scent to return to your “birth colour” visualisation

Smell is deeply primal and it can be a special tool to

The Magic of Prenatal Yoga for a more Calm & Easier Birth Journey 🤰

Yoga is one of the Pregnancy A to Z lessons inside of The Easier Birth Method. Let's take a look at how prenatal yoga can help you.

🍃 Pregnancy invites you into a whole new relationship with your body, your breath, and your inner world, and prenatal yoga is one of the most beautiful ways to support that journey.

Prenatal yoga isn’t just movement.
It’s a softening.
A grounding.
A gentle return to yourself.

✨ Physically, it eases tension, supports your changing body, reduces aches, and helps create more space for your growing baby.

✨ Emotionally, it soothes anxious feelings, calms your nervous system, and helps you feel more steady and supported.

✨ Mentally, it teaches presence which is a powerful skill you’ll lean on during labour and birth.

🍃 And if you’re feeling anxious about labour (which is so normal), prenatal yoga can help you reconnect with your breath, your body and your inner strength.
You learn how to soften fear, quiet the “what ifs,” and trust your natural birthing instincts.

One of the most powerful parts of a prenatal yoga class is the closing meditation, that final moment where everything settles.

Your breath slows.
Your mind clears.
Your body feels held and supported.
It’s a space where your worries melt and your inner wisdom becomes louder than your anxious feelings and fears.

🍃 This is where confidence grows.
🍃 This is where calm begins.
🍃 This is where you remember: "My body was made for this".

🌿 Important: Always choose a yoga instructor who is pregnancy‑certified.
They understand the unique needs of your changing body, know which movements are safe, and can guide you with the care, knowledge, and reassurance you deserve.

If you’re craving more ease, more confidence, and more emotional steadiness during pregnancy, prenatal yoga is a great place to begin.

Your breath becomes your anchor.
Your body has always been wise.
And you are so much stronger than your anxious thoughts.

Men’s Health Week - June 9–15, Australia
This week is Men’s Health Week and it's a national reminder to check in on the physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing of the men in our lives.

And when you’re pregnant or caring for a newborn, this message becomes even more meaningful.

Because while so much attention is placed on mothers wellbeing,
partners matter too.
Their health, their stress levels, their emotional world, and their ability to cope all shape the wellbeing of the entire family.

Men’s Health Week is a beautiful opportunity to pause and recognise that parenthood is a two‑person transition, and both parents deserve support, understanding, and care.

👨‍🍼 During Pregnancy - Partners Are Preparing Too
Even if they don’t always show it, partners often carry their own quiet worries:

• Will I be a good parent?
• How can I be a good support during labour?
• What if I don’t know what to do?
• How will our relationship change?
• How will I balance work, finances, and family?

Men’s Health Week invites us to gently check in and create space for these conversations.

You can support your partner by:

• Asking how they're feeling about the pregnancy
• Encouraging him to share fears or uncertainties
• Including him in birth preparation and decision‑making
• Helping him understand his role during labour (if he is going to be your birth support person)
• Supporting him to get enough rest, exercise and downtime
• Reminding him that his emotional wellbeing matters too

A supported partner becomes a stronger support for you and for your baby.

👶 During Newborn Parenting - The Transition Is Big for Both Parents

The newborn period can be overwhelming for everyone.
Partners often feel pressure to “be the strong one,” “hold it together,” or “stay calm” even when they’re exhausted, unsure or emotionally stretched.

Men’s Health Week reminds us that partners may also experience:
• Sleep deprivation
• Anxiety
• Emotional overload
• Worry about finances or providing
• Fear of doing things “wrong”
• Difficulty bonding at first
• A sense of being on the outside
• Pressure to support everyone else before themselves

Their mental health matters just as much as yours.

Supporting your partner might look like:
• Sharing the emotional load, not just the physical one
• Encouraging breaks, rest, and time to decompress
• Letting him know he’s doing a good job
• Reminding him that bonding takes time
• Encouraging him to talk to someone if he’s struggling
• Creating routines that support both parents’ wellbeing

When both parents feel supported, the whole home feels calmer, safer, and more connected.

💛 A Gentle Truth
Healthy families start with healthy parents
Men’s Health Week isn’t just about men…
It’s about the wellbeing of the entire family unit.

It’s about recognising that partners also need care, compassion, and space to adjust.
It’s about acknowledging that their emotional world matters.
It’s about strengthening the foundation your baby will grow up on.

So this week, take a moment to check in with the man who’s walking this journey with you. A simple conversation, a moment of appreciation or a reminder that he matters can make a world of difference.

Here’s to stronger, healthier and more supported families together. 💙

10/06/2026

We celebrate the "International Day of Play" on Thursday, June 11, 2026, and it’s the perfect time for parents-to-be and new parents to reflect on the importance of play and it's not just for children, but for families as a whole.

This year’s theme, “Protect play, protect childhood,” reminds us that play is both a fundamental right for children - that's their work, and it's also a powerful tool for early learning and development.

Play Actually Begins Before Birth

For women who are pregnant, play starts even before your little one enters the world. Engaging in gentle activities such as talking, singing, moving rhythmically, or massaging your belly, these simple activities stimulate early brain development and nurtures emotional bonding between you and your unborn baby. These moments of connection can create a foundation of security, curiosity, and trust that your newborn will feel right from the start.

First Moments of Life: Sensory and Social Growth

Once your baby is born, play quickly becomes an essential part of everyday life. At this stage, it doesn’t need any expensive toys, just simple, mindful interactions are really powerful.

Let's take a look:

Tummy time: Supports core strength and motor development.
Sensory exploration: Texture play, soft objects or gentle sounds help your baby make sense of the world.
Interactive bonding: Smiles, eye contact, conversation through reading enriches early social and emotional development.
Short, consistent play sessions throughout the day can contribute significantly to physical, cognitive, and emotional growth.

Long-Term Benefits of Everyday Play:

Children who engage in regular, joyful, and developmentally appropriate play develop:

Creativity and problem-solving skills
Resilience and adaptability
Social awareness and communication abilities
So just by embedding play into your daily routine, you're already fostering a strong foundation for lifelong learning, wellbeing, and emotional intelligence. This is building resilience one giggle and gentle interaction at a time.

Simple Ways to Celebrate International Day of Play:

Dedicate a few moments daily for joint play: Singing, reading or general conversation with your little one.
Create playful routines: Music, songs, and soft textured books are some easy ideas.
Supporting safe, stimulating environments: Ensure your home both inside and outdoor spaces allow for safe exploration and sensory engagement.

Remember, play is more than just a fun activity, as it's also a protective factor in childhood development. By prioritising interactive, nurturing play, parents embrace the joy of learning together.

Let this International Day of Play be the start of a family-wide journey: A celebration of imagination, curiosity and resilience where every playful moment counts. Whether it's a gentle song during pregnancy or a small sensory activity after birth, every interaction matters.

🌈 Play, bond, and grow together. Because childhood is meant to be protected and enjoyed. ✨

Overn the next few weeks, we're going to explore:

🌸 THE EASIER BIRTH METHOD'S "TOOLKIT FOR LABOUR & BIRTH"

This will be a calm, grounded, holistic toolkit to support your mind, body, senses, and nervous system during labour.

Labour is not just physical as it’s so emotional, hormonal, sensory, and deeply instinctive.

These natural tools can help you stay calm, centred and connected to your body and your baby.

Let's start off with:

🌈 1. Choosing a Colour to Anchor Your Birth Experience

Colour is a powerful subconscious cue.

Choosing a “birth colour” gives your mind something familiar, soothing and grounding to return to during labour.

Your colour becomes your anchor, and it can be a symbol of calm, strength, and safety.

How to choose your colour:

Close your eyes and ask:
“What colour feels like calm, softness, strength, or safety to me?”
Here's some common choices, but please choose a colour that resonates for you. It may or may not be your favourite colour:

• Blue - calm, flowing, steady

• Purple - intuition, feminine power

• Pink - softness, love, nurturing

• Green - grounding, nature, renewal

• Gold - warmth, strength, inner light
Or perhaps you could choose a rainbow of colours!

How to use your colour in labour:

• Visualise breathing your colour in and out

•Imagine your cervix opening and dilating in your birth colour

• Picture your contractions as gentle and safe ocean "waves" in that colour

• Wear something in your chosen birth colour on your birthing day, perhaps a sarong for easy covering up when you feel the need to

• Use lighting in your chosen colour - battery operated candles for example

• Ask your birth support person to remind you to: “Breathe your colour in and out

Your colour becomes a calming ritual for your nervous system.

What else can you think of that would incorporate colour into your birth. Please comment below to let me know.

07/06/2026

June 8, 2026 - King’s birthday.

👑 Why Australia Celebrates the King’s Birthday in June

Australia celebrating the King’s Birthday public holiday has nothing to do with King Charles III’s actual birthday, and it never has for any monarch.
The date is based on tradition, weather, and history, not the monarch’s real birth date.

Here’s a little bit of history for you.

🌿 Where It All Began: King George III (1738–1820)
Australia’s tradition of celebrating the monarch’s birthday dates back to King George III, whose birthday was on 4th June.

In the early colonial years, this date was marked with parades, gun salutes, and celebrations.

Because June suited Australia’s climate and calendar, the tradition stuck.
So even when monarchs changed, the June celebration remained.

👑 Queen Victoria, King Edward VII, King George V - and the Weather Problem

Many monarchs after George III had birthdays at inconvenient times of the year for public celebrations, often in winter in the UK or during time of poor weather.

So the British tradition shifted to celebrating the monarch’s “official birthday” at a time of year with better weather for public events.

Australia simply kept the June timing because it worked well for us too - it’s the opening of the ski season in the southern states of Australia.

🌸 Queen Elizabeth II (1926–2022)

Queen Elizabeth II’s real birthday was 21st April, but Australia continued celebrating in June because:

• It aligned with long‑standing tradition
• It fit in with the Australian winter public holiday calendar
• It kept consistency across most states and territories

Her “official birthday” in Australia was always celebrate on the second Monday in June (except in WA and QLD, who use different dates).

👑 King Charles III (born 14 November)

King Charles’ real birthday is 14th November.
So the King’s Birthday holiday is not about the date itself, it’s about aligning with tradition.

Australia celebrates the King’s Birthday in June because:
It began with King George III’s June birthday
The date then became a tradition
It fits Australia’s seasonal and public holiday calendar
It’s easier to keep the same date for each monarch
It’s a celebration of the monarchy, not the monarch’s literal birth date, and most of us welcome Public Holidays.

But when you’re pregnant or caring for a newborn, days like this take on a different kind of meaning.
They remind us of the values we pass down through the generations: stability, continuity, tradition, and the quiet strength that holds families together.
And whether you realise it or not, you’re already doing the same within your own home.

🌸 If you’re pregnant…

You’re growing the next generation, a tiny life who will one day inherit the world we’re shaping today.
As the Commonwealth honours its history and traditions, you’re creating your families own by:
• slowing down
• listening to your body
• nurturing your baby
• preparing for a calm and easier birth
Your pregnancy is its own kind of legacy.

🤱 If you’re in the newborn season…

Public holidays look different now, they’re quieter and slower.

But they’re also more meaningful.

You’re building the foundations of your baby’s world through:

• the way you hold them
• the calm you model
• the love you pour into all the everyday little moments
• the safety and steadiness you create at home

These are the values that shape a child far more than any royal celebration ever could.

💛 A reminder

As Australia and the Commonwealth celebrate the King’s Birthday, take a moment to honour the incredible role you play in your own family’s story.

You are the centre of your baby’s world.

You are their stability, their comfort and their constant.

You are creating a legacy of love, calm, and connection - one that will last long after this public holiday ends.

Enjoy the pause, the rest, and the reminder that what you’re doing matters.

Happy King’s Birthday, Australia and The Commonwealth 👑💛

World Food Safety Day - June 7th, 2026.
Today is World Food Safety Day, and it's a reminder that the way we handle, prepare, and store food matters more than ever during pregnancy and newborn life.

When you’re growing a baby or caring for a tiny newborn, food safety isn’t just a health guideline, it becomes an act of protection, nourishment, and shows your unconditional love.

Here’s how food safety connects deeply to pregnancy and early parenting:

🌸 During Pregnancy

Your immune system naturally shifts, which means your body is more sensitive to certain bacteria and food‑borne illnesses.
Food safety becomes a simple but powerful way to protect both you and your baby.

You’re already practising food safety when you:

• Choose freshly prepared foods
• Avoid high‑risk foods like soft cheeses, deli meats, and raw seafood
• Wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly
• Keep leftovers refrigerated and reheat them well
• Cook meats and eggs fully
• Pay attention to use‑by dates
• Keep your kitchen surfaces clean and your hands washed

These small choices support your baby’s development and keeps your body strong and healthy.

🤱 During Newborn Parenting

Food safety continues to matter once your baby arrives, even though they’re not old enough to start eating solid foods.

You’re protecting your newborn when you:

• Wash your hands before feeding or handling bottles
• Sterilise bottles, teats, and breast pump parts
• Prepare formula safely and store it correctly as per the formula guidelines on the can
• Keep stored breastmilk at the right temperature
• Ensure anyone helping with feeds follows the same hygiene practices
• Keep your kitchen environment clean

These habits help reduce the risk of illness, and support syour baby’s developing immune system.

💚 A Reminder

Food safety isn’t about fear, it’s about taking more care.
It’s one of the quiet, everyday ways you can protect your baby’s wellbeing, whether they’re still growing inside you or cradled in your arms.

On World Food Safety Day, take a moment to honour the thoughtful choices you make every day.
They matter more than you realise, for your health, your baby’s health and your family’s future.

World Environment Day - June 5th

🌿 Living in Harmony With the Earth - Through Pregnancy & Newborn Parenting

Today June 5th is World Environment Day and it’s a reminder that the way we care for the Earth is deeply connected to the way we care for our babies.

When you’re pregnant or holding your newborn baby in your arms, the meaning of “future generations” becomes very real. You’re growing, or raising a tiny human who will inherit the world we are shaping today.

And here’s the powerful truth:

You are already living in harmony with so many of the values World Environment Day celebrates. Often without even realising it.

🌱 Slowing Down: Pregnancy and newborn life naturally invite you to pause, breathe and reconnect with what truly matters by mirroring the Earth’s own rhythms.

🌿 Nurturing: You’re either growing a baby or caring for a newborn, the most powerful reminder of nature’s wisdom and resilience.

🌱 Choosing Gentle Products: Whether it’s natural skincare, eco friendly bamboo nappies, or low tox cleaning products, your choices support both your baby’s health and the planet’s wellbeing.

🌿 Creating a safe, healthy world: Whether it’s choosing gentle products, spending time outdoors, or simply role modelling kindness, you’re already shaping the environment your child will grow up in.

🌱 Spending Time Outdoors: Walks in nature, grounding your feet on the grass, or simply sitting in the sunshine help to regulate your nervous system, and that connects you to the Earth’s calming energy.

🌱 Reducing Waste (even in small ways): Reusing baby clothes, choosing cloth nappies and wipes, or buying recycled baby items, reduces environmental impact while role modelling mindful living.

🌱 Creating a Peaceful Home Environment: Soft lighting, gentle routines, and calm spaces support your baby’s nervous system, and reflect the Earth’s natural balance.

🌱 Nourishing Your Body With Whole Foods: Eating fresh, seasonal foods supports your health, your baby’s development, and the planet’s natural cycles. Eat a rainbow of fresh healthy fruits and vegetables every day. Perhaps even try home growing some varieties of your favourite fruits and vegies, this ensures the produce is organic.

🌱 Practising Mindfulness & Presence: Every time you slow your breath, soften your shoulders, or place a hand on your belly, you’re honouring the same stillness and presence the Earth teaches us.

🌱 Teaching Through Example & Raising The Next Generation of Caretakers: Your baby will learn how to love the Earth by watching how you love it. Always lead by example. Connection, care, gentleness and respect all begin at your home.

💚 A Beautiful Reminder

Today, take a moment to honour the incredible connection between motherhood and the natural world as they really are deeply intertwined. Your body, your baby, and the Earth are all part of the same beautiful cycle of life, growth, and renewal.
