If you saw this morning’s reel, this is what I do recommend instead.
Rounded shoulders are rarely just a strength problem. More often, they’re the result of long-held muscle tension through the chest and shoulders.
When the chest remains tight, it gently pulls the shoulders forwards. The muscles through the neck and upper back then have to work harder to support you, which is why so many people live with tight necks, sore shoulders and the constant urge to roll their shoulders or pull them back.
Somatic movement takes a different approach.
Rather than forcing your shoulders into a better position, we help your nervous system release unnecessary muscle tension. As the chest softens, your shoulders can settle into a more natural position, allowing your neck and shoulders to relax.
This is the class I recorded today for my online studio.
Have you ever tried somatic movement to improve your posture? I’d love to hear your experience below.
