Celebrating two years of the Calvary Connery Centre! 🥳

Time in the new day oncology and consulting suites has flown by, with the team having been involved in more than 11,000 episodes of care since moving across from the hospital in 2024.

Located on Level 1 of the medical centre building at 46 John Rice Ave, Elizabeth Vale, the team provides a comprehensive range of cancer services, along with co-located partners from Radiology SA, GenesisCare, and Clinpath Pathology.

As part of National Reconciliation Week 2026, managers and specialists from across our three hospitals came together for a special breakfast.

Joining us was special guest speaker Jack Buckskin from Kuma Kaaru, who addressed the group who spoke about his family and the history of the missions is SA, as well as his teaching role as the only fluent speaker of the Kaurna language.

Also featuring at the breakfast was the beautiful artwork by talented young Aboriginal artist Sienna, involved in one of our community partnerships. Through symbols of people, meeting places and the peaceful flow of the River Torrens, Sienna’s artwork reflects connection, unity, and the importance of walking together in reconciliation.

"My painting includes symbols of men and women, 'All in for Reconciliation' and meeting places around the river Torrens, which flows peacefully. The hand represents how the people work together for Reconciliation." – Sienna

As part of International Volunteers Week, today we celebrated with a special morning tea which bought together volunteers from across our three Calvary hospital sites, as well as Flora McDonald Aged Care.

It was the perfect occasion to celebrate the incredible people who give their time, energy, and heart to make a difference in the lives of our patients and residents.

Regional Chief Operations Officer Toni-Ann spoke about the theme of this year, reminding us that volunteering is about people coming together, building stronger communities, and showing the power of genuine human connection through acts of care and service.

Thank you to the Volunteer team - including Maria, Tammy, Jess, Jeannine and Greg - who support and coordinate our 215 volunteers.

To every volunteer: thank you for all that you do. Your impact reaches further than you may ever know, and our community is stronger because of you.

It's Palliative Care Week, so we sat down with Kevin Hardy - Nurse Practitioner and Director of Clinical Services – Palliative Care at Calvary North Adelaide Hospital for this edition of our Q&A series with Calvary specialists.

Drawing on his extensive clinical experience, Kevin shares expert insights into what palliative care is, when it should be considered, where it can be provided, and how it supports both patients and families through challenging times.

From addressing common fears and misconceptions to reflecting on the moments that have shaped his approach to care, Kevin offers practical guidance, compassion, and reassurance for patients, carers, and loved ones navigating complex health journeys. In this special conversation for National Palliative Care Week, he highlights the importance of early support, open communication, and person-centred care in helping people live as fully and comfortably as possible.

At Calvary, we have highly skilled specialists including Kevin Hardy who work together with doctors and specialised nursing and allied health staff. Dedicated Palliative Care services are specifically offered at the Mary Potter Hospice at Calvary North Adelaide Hospital, as well as through Calvary’s Palliative Home Care service.

Happy International Nurses Day! 💙

We asked some of our incredible nurses “What do you love most about being a nurse?”

Their answers are a powerful reminder of the compassion, connection, and care that nursing brings to people’s lives.

We’re incredibly fortunate to have dedicated nurses across all of our services delivering exceptional care to patients, families, and communities every day.

To all nurses, thank you for your kindness, strength, and unwavering commitment to caring for others.

A big night at the Calvary GNTP Information Evening, as 150 nursing students gathered to learn more about the 2027 Graduate Nurse/Midwife Transition Program.

Attendees across the three session heard from Program Coordinators around what to expect during the twelve month program; getting tips about the application and interview process. Current graduates were also on hand to share their experiences, offer advice and answer questions.

Trade tables were manned by staff from across our three SA hospitals, representing their areas of specialty which included palliative care, maternity, acute care, critical care and perioperative. Attendees were able to chat freely in the informal setting, giving them an insight into what Calvary offers in terms of rotations, ongoing support, and long term career opportunities.

Thanks to everyone involved who made the event a huge success, and to all those who attended. We wish you the best of luck in your applications, when they open on Monday.
