Physio vs Osteo
What’s the difference?
This is something we often get asked in Clinic.
Both Physios and Osteos work with pain, movement and musculoskeletal conditions, and there is often quite a bit of crossover between the two.
The main difference is usually in how we assess and approach the problem.
A Physio may place more emphasis on movement, strength, rehabilitation and returning you to normal function - particularly after injury, surgery or a flare up.
As an Osteo I generally take a whole body approach, looking at how joints, muscles and surrounding structures may be contributing to the area that is sore or not moving well.
We both may use hands on treatment, exercise, education and rehabilitation strategies.
So which one should you book?
Often it comes down to the individual practitioner, our areas of expertise and the type of problem you’re dealing with, rather than one profession being “better” than the other.
At Reach Health, we work collaboratively, so we can help guide you towards the right practitioner.
