I’m really happy to see strength training finally getting the attention it deserves.

But when people ask, “what is better: strength or cardio?”

It’s a bit like asking, “what’s better, the egg or the banana?” 🥚🍌

Both are good! They just offer different things.

There is some crossover in benefits between the two types of training, but they also each have their own unique benefits and play different roles in supporting our health and wellbeing.

Strength training focuses more on building muscle, bone strength, posture, balance, and functional capacity.

Cardio exercise supports heart and lung health, improves endurance, boosts energy, and can help with stress and mood regulation.

The important thing to remember is: it’s not about choosing one over the other — it’s about including both in a way that suits your body and your goals.
And just like your needs in life change over time, your training focus can shift too.

If you’re unsure where to start, an exercise physiologist can help you build a plan that’s safe, effective, and tailored to you

Recovering after Breast Cancer surgery can come with shoulder stiffness, tightness, weakness, pain, and reduced movement — especially following lymph node removal or radiation treatment.

Gentle, guided exercise can play an important role in recovery by helping to improve mobility, rebuild strength, reduce discomfort, and support confidence returning to everyday activities.

At the right pace, and when individualised, exercise can be safe, effective, and tailored to each person’s stage of recovery and individual needs. 💕

Our exercise physiologists, Tresna, Bree and Emily, are here to provide you with exercise guidance 😊

Last week we had an incredible turnout for our education evening all about osteoporosis, osteopenia, and bone health as part of our program, The Bone Lab! 🦴✨

My name is Rhiannon, and I had the opportunity to speak about what osteoporosis is and the powerful role exercise plays in building and maintaining stronger bones.

A huge thank you to our wonderful guest speakers who joined us on the night:

🔹️ Nicky Saliba, dietitian from , who shared practical and achievable nutrition strategies to support better bone health in everyday life.

🔹️ Dr Vikram Sagar from , who provided valuable insight into bone density scans and their role in assessing bone health.

Participants in The Bone Lab have now completed their one-on-one assessments, attended our educational session, and today begin their 8-week group exercise program — all focused on improving BONE HEALTH 💪🦴

We are so excited to support everyone through this journey!

There will be more intakes throughout the year, and we are now taking expressions of interest for future Bone Lab programs. Please reach out if you would like to learn more! ✨

Thanks so much for the kind review!

We’re thrilled to hear that people are enjoying our Bone Lab course and, more importantly, feeling more confident and informed about how to lift weights safely and effectively to support their bone health.

If you have osteopenia, osteoporosis, or you’re simply looking to maintain or improve your bone strength, The Bone Lab could be a great fit for you.

Send us a message if you’d like more details about our next intake—we’d love to help!

We’re excited to share that a representative from Life Medical Imaging will be joining us as a guest speaker at our upcoming education session as part of The Bone Lab!

The Bone Lab is a 9-week education and exercise program designed for people with osteopenia, osteoporosis, or anyone looking to proactively support their bone health.

Here’s what’s included:

✔️ A one-on-one initial assessment with one of our exercise physiologists
✔️ An education session featuring three expert speakers: an exercise physiologist, dietitian, and radiologist
✔️ 1–2 group exercise classes per week across 8 weeks

Our guest speaker will be diving into DEXA scans and answering common questions like:

• What is a DEXA scan?
• At what age should I get one?
• How often should I be screened?

Whether you’re navigating perimenopause, looking to build strength as you age, or simply want to better understand how to improve your bone health, this course is designed for you. Suitable for both men and women.

Our next intake begins in May, with after-work weekday and weekend options available.

This is run at our Erina clinic on Karalta Rd.
