It's been quite awhile since we posted on Facebook - time seems to be getting away from us all so quickly.

We've put up our Christmas tree and decorations and are looking forward to Christmas day. We hope you are too!

We understand that lockdowns are hard on everyone, us too. We are under very hard restrictions during this lockdown, and are only able to see emergency type patients (those at risk of infection/deterioration that would result in hospitalisation.

If you have an upcoming appopintment, our podiatrist will triage your condition and advise our reception team to contact you if we need to add you to a waitlist.

Once restrictions on Podiatry ease, we'll call you to book an appointment.

As always, we apprecioate your understanding in this extremely challenging time.

We are proud to announce that all staff at Windy Hill Podiatry are fully vaccinated for Covid-19.

This has been made a priority so that you, our loyal patients, feel comfortable visiting us during this pandemic.

The rules for podiatry remain the same as last years lockdown - emergency/high risk patients only.

Matthew, James and Larissa have looked ahead at their patients booked in during lockdown and have advised our receptionists of who they are allowed to treat. This means, our reception team will contact you as soon as they can if we need to reschedule your appointment.

Maddy and Isabel will call you and if there isn't an availability with your regular podiatrist sooner than you'd like, they will offer you an appointment with someone else.

Footwear Health Check:

1 – PUSH
Push the ends of your shoe’s inwards, if they bend easily this means they don’t offer much support in that area.

2 – Bend
Try and bend the shoe where you toes go. The more flexible and “elastic” your shoe is where your toe joints bend, the greater your ability to initiate the muscles in your foot, making it easier to move.

3. – Twist
Have you tried twisting the middle of your shoe? If you can’t twist them or they twist only a minimal amount, then they are firm and stable – which is what we need!

4 – Tie
Securely tying your shoes means that you will keep your toes from jamming into the front end of your shoes as you move. If you don’t like laces, then look for buckles, velcro or perhaps elastic laces that ensure the shoe fit snugly.

5. – The rule of thumb
To ensure your shoes are comfortable around your toes – once on, place your thumb at the end of the shoe to see if you can feel your toes. You should leave about 1.5cm (1 thumb width) of space between the tip of your longest toe and the front end of the shoe.

Please note that the restrictions on Podiatry services have slightly changed during this lockdown period compared to the previous 4.

This means we are able to see a few more patients, however restrictions still exist.

If we need to reschedule your appointment we will call you, otherwise you will receive your normal appointment reminder for your appointment.

As of July 1st, there has been an increase in our consultation fees.

To continue providing our patients with high quality healthcare, the increase is necessary to cover the growing costs from our suppliers, largely secondary to Covid-19.

If you have a scheduled appointment with us during lockdown, our receptionists will call you to triage the condition of your feet - based on information from your podiatrist.

As we're only able to see a very small category of patients during lockdown, we'll do our best to reschedule your appointment as soon as we can.

For more than a decade, Larissa has been part of the WHPC team and in this time, she has developed a keen interest in children’s podiatry. This focus has seen her participate in various paediatric special interest groups and undertake paediatric research with Monash University.

Larissa works part-time in one of Melbourne’s largest multi-disciplinary paediatric teams at Monash Health and has commenced a position at the Royal Children’s Hospital this year. These positions allow her to work exclusively with children of all ages.

Through fun, facilitated play sessions, Larissa is able to assess the natural movement of children’s feet and legs. This allows her to observe the impact on their gross motor skills, without feeling intimidated by the clinical space.
