🩸 Blood tests for Fertility 🩸
One of the first things I’ll have new fertility clients do is get a bunch of bloods done to assess what her hormones are doing as well as look for nutritional deficiencies.
If a client comes with blood work they’ve already obtained from their GP, 9 times out of 10 the woman has no idea which part of her cycle she had the blood work done in, and if we work it out - it’s generally at the wrong time, which make the blood work pointless.
Here’s why:
🩸 Progesterone is primarily made after a follicle releases an egg (ovulation), so testing progesterone before you’ve ovulated will give you a reading of almost 0.
🩸 Similarly, FSH is most productive in the first half of the cycle, it stimulates the ovaries to grow eggs. We want to know how little or hard FSH is working to ovulate - again pretty pointless after ovulation!
Please note, there are many other things we look at for fertility including thyroid function, insulin, testosterone, vitamin D however this very basic hormone profile and the timing of it is crucial. ✌️
