The Well Beings Space Wellbeing especially for Women šŸ’œ

We don’t celebrate ourselves enough in Australia
We’re trained to be ā€˜humble’
Bragging is considered gloating and not ok
People say you’re ’full of your Self’
-But not to your face of course!
It’s sad really
Dimming our light and each others so we can keep the status quo.
Because when we celebrate ourselves & each other life levels up
Energy expands
We lift each other higher
No fear of being cut down
No need to be small
No competition
Everyone championing each other.

THIS was my fave part of running Sydney Marathon - the collective energy…

Between runners
From the sidelines
Everyone had each other’s back

IT WAS MAGICAL

Did you know most people running a marathon have never done one before.
Yet the completion rate is over 98%

Let that sink in.
THATS THE MAGIC & POWER OF COLLECTIVE ENERGY.

Let’s flip the script and cheer our fabulous Selves & each other on!

Life’s hard enough.
Let’s sprinkle it with joy & elevate our collective experience!

A funny thing happened in the days after the marathon
Because my body ached so much
I was FORCED to REALLY SLOW DOWN
I walked slower
I really thought about what I was doing
The physical & mental cost of everything
And so whether I actually REALLY wanted to do it
Was it worth the effort?
Was it worth the physical cost?

Something shifted

And still is

I know I’ve been banging on about slowing down for a while now

But I got this on a whole other level
These past few days

And if anything deepened my belief & commitment to this practice
This message.

When the cost of doing all the things isn’t so immediately obvious
We are never forced to actually LOOK
Is this worth it?
Do I even REALLY want to?

So where in your life
ā€¼ļøWORK
ā€¼ļøRELATIONSHIPS
ā€¼ļøFAMILY
ā€¼ļøFINANCES
ā€¼ļøHEALTH
Can you benefit from slowing down
And taking a good hard look?
Because there is ALWAYS a cost.
And whilst it’s may not be obvious
Or painful
Maybe it’s a slow chipping away of your
āŒCONFIDENCE
āŒJOY
āŒWELLBEING
āŒBANK ACCOUNT

I dunno, take a look
This is your poke to really
Take a look.

TOGETHER WE GO FURTHER.

And finding the right people, the right relationships- the ones who believe in you, who encourage & inspire you, who support you, and share their wisdom with you, where your greatness is their greatness…finding that person & those people MATTERS.

More than you know.

It can be the difference between starting & not starting and finishing & not finishing.

It makes a hard journey easier.

Community is everything.

Don’t waste your time in the wrong rooms or with people who don’t champion you. No matter your goal.
Find your people.

Thank you Jane de Gault
What a ride!

Just some of the benefits of slowing down…

There are so many more too.
And whilst I enjoyed my life hen it was a lot busier
Creativity would rend to desert me sometimes
Because I simply didn’t allow space for it
Like my grief I tried to squeeze it into my schedule at the last minute
And whilst I always get things done
I KNOW I can do a whole lot better.

It’s still a daily reminder that I can relax
I’m by the pool again writing this…

After a full and productive day
Where at no point in time did I rush
It’s a new world!

Remember: the list never ends
There is no rush

Yes it’s a privilege
And it’s also a choice
To choose LIVING
Over WORKING
And BEING over DOING all the time
How fortunate to have the power to choose

And again I think it’s an age thing
You get to a point where
Being seen to be doing something
No longer matters
Being part of the right crowd is suddenly BS
And figuring out what really matters now
Might mean shelving & scrapping all that was
And starting a fresh…

A rebirth
A recalibration
A realisation
That THIS IS IT
Not some day one day
But NOW

Soooo
Be sure to slow down and enjoy the view along the way
Smell the frangipanis
Watch the birds
Feel the breeze
And the sun on your face

And notice the difference it makes
To your work
Your relationships
And most importantly
Your health & Wellbeing

We get to choose…

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY as I both observe the world around me & reflect on my personal experience…

We are so brainwashed to be BUSY.
To GRIND
To ACHIEVE
To be IMPORTANT
To be SEEN doing SOMETHING ā€˜important’

But at what cost?

If the quality of your life, health & relationships are suffering.

Maybe a rethink and adjustment is in order…
Maybe calling BS on expectations and what is ACTUALLY possible
Things change
YOU change
Just because it’s always been done a certain way
Or you operate a certain way
Ask yourself if it still serves you.

Or maybe I’m just getting older
And moving further into
My ā€˜All about ME Season’ šŸ¤—

Regardless when you work to impossible deadlines under heavy loads
And something goes wrong - as it does in life,
Do you have the space & capacity to move through it it a way that honours your wellbeing?

I didn’t.

And I’m still paying the piper whom I thought I could short change! šŸ«£šŸ˜‚

Running with music has been the barer of unexpected gifts
I usually run in silence
I generally prefer silence for some reason
Running drops you into your body
Like any practice you can do without too much thinking
And in silence my mind becomes clear
Just you and your breath
Anchored in your body

Presence

That’s when we can hear the whispers

That’s when our inner world knows it has our attention

And that’s when the healing can take place

The messages I have received mid run in silence has been phenomenal
But music
Music has been a whole other revelation

The emotions that have bubbled up

The old stories I held on to long ago

Revealed for what they are
STORIES
-Not the truth

The wisdom of an older woman
Much kinder than the perspective of a frightened child…

And grief
Imagine if it came all at once?
It would be unfathomable
Difficult to survive perhaps

I’ve come to believe
That’s why it spills out
In tiny little trickles over time.

The heart can only take so much
And for those without tools
IT IS UNFATHOMABLE

I love that today
Through all my work & study
Healing & processing
Comes as naturally as breathing
I love that I can readily
And easily
Hold space for my Self

We enjoyed a long weekend in the Top End
And whilst I still worked & trained hard
I also made lots of time for doing not very much…
For connection
For idle conversation
And home made chocolate brownie cake
Slowing down doesn’t mean not making an effort
Or not striving to reach goals
It’s an invitation to take a moment
to notice what isn’t serving you
And what you can put down
In order to make more space
For the people & things that really matter most

In the rushing, it’s easy to lose sight of what and who really matter
In the rushing it’s hard to see what’s working & what’s not
In the rushing we never pause long enough to reflect and assess
how we feel
Not what do I think
But - HOW DO I FEEL?

It matters
A lot.

We had a visit from a Big BIG BOY today.
A true gentleman. A delightful respite after a busy morning šŸ’œ

28/07/2026

It started with the City to Surf last year- the very thought of which terrified me at the time…it’d been YEARS since my feet hit the footpath with any kind of speed for longer than 20m.
But that turned into the Sunday Morning Run Club…mostly to keep us accountable on a Saturday night!
And somewhere during happy hour & the bottom of wine #2 a Marathon was put on the table along with wine #3…
Then came Park Run on Saturday mornings…for a while anyway!
And slowly and UNsurely we ran some more…
And more
At times with large breaks as we alternated injury & illness & juggling life.
But we stayed the path - even if sometimes only mentally šŸ˜‚

Fast forward to now and we’re a month away from the Sydney Marathon
Did we train enough?
Probably not.
Both of us have been working waaaay too much.
Have we trained enough to finish - yes.
And whilst we won’t be breaking any records I’m so proud of myself & Jane as I look back on how far we’ve come in a year.
As athletes (that’s what I’ve started calling us) & friends.

It’s a beautiful reminder that great outcomes are created one small consistent step at a time.

And on the slowing down theme…
Since lightening my load significantly, I’m actually beginning to really enjoy my training.

The shift is palpable.

Food for thought…
