So after our loss last week, today we lost one of our sheep to pneumonia 😔 poor Clarabelle. The vets did all they could but we didn’t quite catch it early enough. One of the problems with prey animals is that they’re good at covering up when they’re not well. I’m pretty good at picking up when my horses or the dogs are a little ‘off’ but I don’t spend as much time with the sheep.
And today was the 20th anniversary of my late husbands passing. Gosh 20 years and some days it still feels like yesterday. I guess he needed a sheep and a sheepdog up there with him, so I’m sure they are in good hands.
My beautiful friend and animal communicator said Lexi would visit me and she definitely has. I saw her the other night with her cute little waddle and smiling face. She was always a happy girl.

So on the eve of a beautiful full moon I hope that is the last of our tragedies and let the good days come 🥰

We’ll miss you Lexi 😔💔🌈 🐾

The only way you can break ‘the trance’ is awareness. Often the family that are in that trance are completely unaware of their patterns or dysfunction. They see their dysfunction as normal, and of course no family is perfect.

Healthy relationships include care, consideration and compromise. Often in dysfunctional families one or all of those are missing.
Ask these questions:
Does one family member hold more ‘power’ than others?
Do you feel ‘safe’ expressing your opinion?
How are disagreements handled?
How are emotions received?
Is there kindness and empathy?

What do you notice in your family/relationship?

These two surprisingly get along pretty well when Ella isn’t around. Long story but there’s a bit of a love triangle and Leo gets a bit cranky.
Tyson has a sore foot. I’m not really sure if he’s had an abscess burst out (it’s that time of year) or he’s stuck the back of his foot with something - not unlikely with this guy and his getting into places he shouldn’t be.
Anyway, I’m keeping him out of the mud and Leo barged his way into the ‘patient area’ thinking there must be food on offer.
The little squeaky voice in the background is Chester protesting he’s been removed from the lush green lawn - where he most definitely shouldn’t be - and placed in a yard with hay. He did raid the feed shed shortly after being released. He’s so quick and knows exactly where all the good stuff is kept 🤦🏼‍♀️

Grief is no longer having your loved one there to love. But it’s also not having that love mirrored back to you.

This is why I love my job.

When you get a request to see a young client whose parents are really worried you can’t help but put yourself in their shoes and treat the situation as urgent.
I only have so long with clients to support them, but we heal through relationships. These ponies are my team and they help my client feel seen, valued and most importantly safe and co-regulated.
Such an amazing reminder for me why I do what I do.

What if forgiveness isn’t about saying what happened was okay… but about freeing yourself from carrying it every day?

Forgiveness is a deeply personal choice, and it doesn’t require forgetting, excusing, or reconnecting. Sometimes it’s simply choosing to stop allowing yesterday’s pain to define today’s peace.

What if you’re not stuck… you’re simply waiting to feel safe enough to take the next step?

Sometimes what looks like procrastination, avoidance, or indecision is actually a nervous system doing its best to protect you. Healing doesn’t always begin with moving forward. Sometimes it begins with feeling safe enough to stand still.

This is Chester, resting on the soft pine needles under the big tree in the paddock. 🥰😮‍💨

Did you know? Not everyone working with animals is qualified to provide Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT).

While animals can have a naturally calming, comforting, and therapeutic presence, they are not the therapists.

Animal-Assisted Therapy is a goal-directed clinical intervention that must be delivered by a suitably qualified and registered health professional working within their scope of practice.

This may include psychologists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, physiotherapists, social workers, and other registered health professionals who are providing treatment and working alongside an animal as part of the therapeutic process.

The animal plays an important role in supporting engagement, motivation, and therapeutic outcomes, but the assessment, treatment planning, clinical reasoning, and delivery of therapy are the responsibility of the qualified professional.

Simply spending time with an animal can be beneficial—but that alone does not make it therapy.

Understanding the difference helps protect clients, maintain professional standards, and ensure that people receive safe, ethical, and evidence-informed care.
