What an inspiring day at the Type 1 Summit!
ATIC was proud to be part of this year's event, connecting with the type 1 diabetes community and sharing the latest developments in research aimed at changing the future of the condition. Thank you to Breakthrough T1D Australia for inviting us to contribute to the research session on the main stage.
Professor Jenny Couper highlighted the growing role of type 1 diabetes screening, the stages of the condition, and the development of therapies that can delay the onset of clinical type 1 diabetes. ATIC Community Engagement Lead Meaghan Read then shared her perspective as someone who has lived with type 1 diabetes for almost 40 years, speaking about the vital role of lived expertise in shaping research and encouraging the community to partner with researchers to drive meaningful progress.
One of the greatest parts of events like this is the opportunity to connect with people living with type 1 diabetes and their loved ones. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to share your experiences, ask questions and learn more about the exciting research taking place across Australia.
These conversations remind us why we do what we do. Together, through research, collaboration and community partnership, we're working towards a future where we can delay, prevent and hopefully cure type 1 diabetes.
