There are places remaining for children and teenagers with newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes to take part in a clinical trial. The SAFEGUARD trial is testing a new treatment that hopes to protect the body's ability to make insulin. This trial is open to 5-17 year old across Australia and New Zealand. Breaking News! The SAFEGUARD trial is now seeking children and teens (aged 5-17) who are newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes to participate in a clinical trial that aims to protect the body's ability to make insulin!
We have clinical trial sites across Australia and New Zealand.

Remember our BANDIT study? 💙
BANDIT showed that baricitinib, an immunotherapy drug, could help protect the insulin-producing beta cells in people recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. People who took baricitinib for 48 weeks were able to keep producing more of their own insulin and needed less injected insulin than those who received placebo. This new follow-up study asked an important question: what happens after treatment stops?
