Just like every other fathers around the world, behind the professional and career image I am just a simple father who is not in any way perfect. Since the very first day of our first newborn, I am truly grateful to be given the opportunity to be the father of our 3 boys. Life has its ups and downs but we should never ever forget how precious our family is and no money could ever buy the life experiences that we have with our partner and kids.

Happy Father's day to all the fantastic, most awesome and truly great fathers out there!

Your baby won’t settle and it's 2am. You opened Google.

We’ve all been there — and research shows that 9 out of 10 parents do exactly this when their baby is unwell.

But here’s what the studies also show: if you’re already anxious (hello, new parenthood), Googling your baby’s symptoms tends to make things worse, not better. The more you search, the more spirals you down.

The good news? Parents who have a paediatrician they trust actually use Dr Google differently. They search less. They panic less. And when what they read online conflicts with their doctor’s advice — they follow their doctor.

So my job isn’t to tell you to stop Googling but rather to ask you to seek better resources than Google.

From caput succedaneum to cephalohaematoma, suture ridges to lymph nodes — most head lumps in newborns are completely normal and expected as part of birth and early development.

The key things I look for: does it cross the suture lines, is it soft or firm, is it growing, and does your baby seem well in themselves.

If you’re ever unsure about a lump on your baby’s head, get it checked by your GP, paediatrician, or child health nurse.

Six weeks is the week the smiling starts — and the week most parents start quietly worrying about everything else.

Five things I look for, and the four that would make me want to see you sooner.

If your baby was born preterm, work from your corrected age (count from the due date). A 6-week-old born at 32 weeks is doing exactly what a term newborn should be doing.

If something feels off, see your GP or maternal and child health nurse. You know your baby.

There are two different situations: a retractile te**is moves up due to a normal reflex and is usually fine. A truly undescended te**is can’t reach the sc***um — and needs assessment and likely surgery before your baby’s first birthday.

The research is clear:
— Spontaneous descent almost always happens in the first 3 months of life
— If it hasn’t descended by 6 months, it won’t come down on its own
— Early surgery (12 - 18 months) protects future fertility and reduces long-term risks
— Even a “retractile” te**is needs regular follow-up — around 1 in 3 will eventually ascend

If you’re unsure whether your son’s testicle was confirmed in the sc***um at his newborn check — please see your GP and ask for a specialist referral. Don’t wait for the next routine appointment.
