Following a hip or knee joint replacement, a growing number of our patients are spending two nights or less time in hospital. As part of St Vincent’s Bringing Care Home strategy, we are transforming care, allowing patients to spend more time doing the things that matter, rather than extended time in a hospital bed.

Many patients report sleeping better at home, have a lower risk of hospital-acquired infections, a faster return to independence and normal routine and more family and carer involvement in their recovery when leaving hospital earlier. Read more here - https://bit.ly/4c7D2BV

Great to see the BRAIx AI Randomised Controlled Trial (RCT), led by St Vincent’s BreastScreen Clinical Director, A/Prof Helen Frazer, featured in this month’s Victorian Healthcare Association publication, Healthcare in Focus.

The BRAIx AI reader is an Australian-developed initiative to improve the detection of breast cancer. It was developed by a partnership between St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne, St Vincent's Institute of Medical Research, BreastScreen Victoria, University of Melbourne and Adelaide University, funded by the Medical Research Future Fund and with philanthropic support from MECCA Brands M-POWER.

More than 45,000 BreastScreen Victoria clients have now participated in the RCT, with over 21,000 clients having their images read by the BRAIx AI reader. The trial is planned to commence with BreastScreen South Australia later this month.
