I recently had the honour of speaking at a GP update seminar, which included a comprehensive discussion on metastatic breast cancer.

The seminar, held at Hotel Chadstone in Melbourne, was a well-attended and interactive workshop that featured presentations by esteemed colleagues, including neurosurgeon Dr. Girish Nair from Neuro Axis, who presented on minimally invasive spinal surgery, and radiation oncologist Dr. Neda Haghighi, who discussed a tailored approach to radiation of the spine.

Bone metastasis is a common issue in metastatic breast cancer patients, affecting approximately 60–80%. The spine is the most frequently affected site, followed by the pelvis and ribs.

I would like to express my gratitude to all attendees for their participation, as it will ultimately contribute to a finely tuned team managing our patients' future care.

Today marks World Cancer Day, a powerful reminder that together, we can drive meaningful change in the fight against cancer. The Australian Breast Care Centre's mission and my practice are dedicated to this cause.

By harnessing the potential of personalized and precision medicine, we can deliver the best possible care for all. This day serves as a catalyst for reflection, education, and solidarity, shining a spotlight on the importance of prevention, early diagnosis, and tailored care for oncology patients.

Let's unite to accelerate progress in healthcare and create a brighter future for all, by joining our “10 year plus” league.

I was deeply inspired to be part of the 2025 Epworth Doctors Dinner, a shining tribute to the profound impact of healthcare professionals who are driving excellence and pushing boundaries across clinical care, education, research, and mentorship.
This uplifting event brought together doctors, the Epworth Board, and leadership team to celebrate outstanding achievements, mentorship, and collaboration that are transforming lives.
Awards recognizing exceptional contributions were presented, including Epworth Consultant Emeritus status to Professors Helen OConnell AO, Michael Green, and Y.L. Lim, a testament to their remarkable dedication and expertise.
Epworth CEO Professor Andrew Stripp and Board President Ms Wendy Thorpe OAM delivered keynote presentations, showcasing the organization's vision for a brighter future and its unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional care.
It was wonderful connecting with friends and colleagues, including Associate Professor Marinis, Professor Genie Pedagogos, Dr Debra O'Brien, and Dr. Peter Larkins.

Jason Foley's StocksOnLocation not only shines a spotlight on emerging and established companies, but also highlights the power of compassion by featuring the Australian Breast Care Centre, a non-profit dedicated to supporting the unscreened population of women under 50 regarding breast care, during October - breast cancer awareness month

This often-overlooked demographic accounts for 23% of all breast cancer cases and tends to receive late diagnoses, resulting in poorer outcomes. The event at the Melbourne Racing Club, was a resounding success, masterfully blending information, business, and entertainment for a truly immersive experience. Exciting developments in triple negative breast cancer treatment were also shared by Percheron Therapeutics Limited.

To top it off, I was thrilled to have backed three out of four winners - a testament to the day's winning formula. It was a truly empowering experience that I hope left those attending feel inspired and motivated for positive change. October is just the begining of the journey of awareness, empowerment and change
