When hip pain is more than "just bursitis" ๐โโ๏ธ
Bayleigh was training for a marathon when hip and buttock pain started to develop.
Her X-ray was normal and an ultrasound suggested bursitis.
But her symptoms and clinical assessment didn't quite add up.
Further investigation with an MRI revealed an incomplete femoral neck stress fracture.
With the correct diagnosis and a carefully staged rehabilitation program, Bayleigh was able to return to runningโand has since completed two half marathons and a HYROX event. ๐ช
What this case highlights:
๐ข Not all hip pain is bursitis
๐ข A normal X-ray doesn't always rule out a bone stress injury
๐ข Clinical assessment matters
๐ข The right diagnosis guides the right rehabilitation
