Im a skincare ingredient nerd and today after seeing the 5000th ad for a colour changing foundation that is advertised as "skincare" but theres only one ingredient in the whole formula that i would classify as good for the skin (glycerin) i decided to debunk the whole colour changing foundation trickery. Its the same colour on everyone, the friction is what releases the colour. It might match your skin but it also might not and its probably better to find a product with great ingredients in it that matches your skin tone rather than paying extra for a magic trick that is not the truth

I got interviewed by Tiny Found this week, an online magazine that features independent businesses that have grown without a big advertising budget. Tiny found is aimed to help new start up businesses

I spent quite a bit of the article talking about getting on camera, because that has honestly been a revelation for me. As an introverted homebody, chatting away online was definitely not something that came naturally

But it ended up changing my business.

This is an excerpt:

“Once COVID hit, the city market that made up the largest part of Mel's income shut down. She knew she needed more exposure online to keep making sales, but was nervous about appearing in pictures or on video. She took an online course called ‘Getting Comfortable on Camera’ and started talking directly to the camera. It changed the business: she made it through COVID on online sales alone, and never went back to the market.”

its true. Our skin makes less oil as we age and combined with hormonal changes, we can end up with much drier skin. Your cleanser is the most important thing to get right here. you dont need it to foam if youre no longer in your twenties anymore. use a really gentle cleanser followed with a serum/ moisturiser and balm or oil and you'll help your skin immensely
