This is an Australian first in surgery in public health care, happening right here at Bayside Health's Frankston Public Surgical Centre.

“It's a new robotic technology that enables us to accurately plan and subsequently execute that surgical plan to within a millimetre and to a degree, which was previously impossible to achieve,” says Dr Simon Lau.

“It will lead to excellent surgical outcomes for patients in the long term.”

Shoulder replacements make up 10-15% of all replacements done around Australia. At Bayside Health Peninsula we perform nearly 1000 joint replacements per year.

Check out Dr Lau and team performing robot assisted shoulder replacement surgery.

Father’s Day is twice as special for Sandeep this year. Our Head of the Palliative Care Unit already works alongside his Pharmacist son Kaustav at Bayside Health Peninsula. This Father’s day, he’s also joined by younger son Krish, a final year medical student doing his Mental Health elective placement at Peninsula University Hospital.

“It’s absolutely an honour to serve the Peninsula community with my sons,” says Sandeep.

Join us in wishing Sandeep and all the Dads and father figures in our community a very Happy Father’s Day. 💙

When lifelong French Island resident Terry failed to show up for work one morning, his friends and co-workers knew something was wrong.

What followed was a medical emergency that saw Terry become one of the first patients airlifted to the new helipad at Peninsula University Hospital by Ambulance Victoria.

Terry has required medical evacuation from French Island before. In the past, he was transferred to The Alfred for urgent treatment. Thanks to the new helipad at Peninsula University Hospital, more local patients like Terry can now receive urgent care closer to home when they need it most.

Throughout his hospital stay, Terry was impressed by the care and compassion shown by staff.

"It was fantastic," he says. "I couldn't complain about anything."

"There were nurses around me the whole time caring for me. It was ridiculous how well I got treated."

Read more about Terry's story via the link in the comments.
