I’m no stranger to the darkness I’ve lived a life and I’ve been through some s**t. And within all of it I can say I’m fu***ng proud of the woman I am, considering all that I’ve moved through.
And I really feel it’s because I’ve learnt to love and be with the darkness. There’s something so good for the soul about letting yourself go into the stormy depths.
I go into the grief, I let it sink into my body. I let myself melt into the compost of it all and allow the darkness to become nourishment for whatever is asking to bloom next.
I believe my ability to hold others in their grief, and darkness comes from how deeply I’ve been willing to journey into my own. It doesn’t scare me, as I know there is medicine there.
That’s why I encourage people to let themselves go there. Don’t rush it away, don’t try to make it look pretty or pretend that you’re not hurting. Let yourself be in it.
Feel, the fu***ng thing.
Meeting your darkness actually opens you into a deeper capacity to choose love and trust life. Because every descent into my own darkness has only deepened my knowing that life and God have my back.
So I thank my childhood.
I thank my dissociative years.
I thank the heartbreak.
I thank the turbulence.
I thank my fu***ng rage.
I thank every version of me that found a way through and I thank my heart for having the courage to open again and again and again.
Don’t be afraid to go into the depths. There are parts of you waiting to be felt, composted and transformed.
Sometimes, the darkest soil is exactly where the most beautiful parts of us begin to bloom 🖤
