Update on Freo Pride Fest 2026

headspace Fremantle has been in discussions with the City of Fremantle regarding the future of Freo Pride Fest.

The City of Fremantle has advised that it does not have the resourcing or capacity to deliver Freo Pride Fest in 2026. While we respect this decision, we are deeply disappointed by the news and recognise the impact it will have on our local LGBTQIA+SB community.

For many people, Freo Pride Fest has been more than just an event—it has been a safe, inclusive and visible celebration of identity, connection and belonging. We know this news will be disappointing for many in our community, and we share that disappointment.

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who has supported Freo Pride Fest over the years. From community members and volunteers to performers, stallholders and partner organisations, your passion and commitment have helped create something truly special, and we are incredibly grateful.

Although Freo Pride Fest will not be going ahead this year, headspace Fremantle hopes to celebrate Pride Month by delivering a smaller-scale community event. We look forward to sharing more information as plans develop.

If you have any feedback regarding the City's decision, we encourage you to contact the City of Fremantle directly.

Thank you for your ongoing support of our LGBTQIA+SB community. Together, we will continue to find ways to celebrate Pride, foster connection and create safe, inclusive spaces for everyone 🏳️‍🌈

A nationwide phone alert test is coming ⚠️📱

On Monday 27 July, the Australian Government will test the new national emergency warning system, AusAlert.

The alert will cause compatible devices to vibrate and play a loud warning sound, even if they're on silent or Do Not Disturb. A message will also appear on your device clearly stating that it's a test alert, and no action is required.

If you're supporting a young person, talking about the test beforehand can help them know what to expect.

If receiving the test could disrupt you or cause you or someone you know to feel unsafe, turn compatible devices off or switch them to aeroplane mode before the scheduled test time in your location and leave them off for at least one hour.

To learn what to expect and when the test is happening in your state or territory, follow the link here: https://www.ausalert.gov.au/alerts-explained/national-test
