Today I found myself sitting with a simple question.

Why was I resisting something that, on the surface, could bring joy?

The answer wasn’t quite what I expected.

Sometimes what we think is our heart speaking is actually the part of us that has spent years trying to protect it.

In Chinese Medicine, this is known as the Heart Protector or the Pericardium.

There is great wisdom in protection.

The invitation is simply to notice when that protection still serves us… and when it might be quietly asking for healing instead.

What has your own Heart Protector been trying to keep safe?

Some experiences change us forever.

Looking back now, I can see that grief wasn’t just something I survived. It became one of the greatest catalysts for my own transformation.

At the time, all I knew was heartbreak. I couldn’t yet see where that path would eventually lead.

This is Part Three of a story I’ve never really shared before.

One of the biggest stepping stones in my life didn’t begin with a solution.

It began with realising how tightly I was holding myself.

For a long time, I thought I needed to push through.

To keep going.

To keep coping.

But my body was telling a different story.

The first time I truly experienced what it felt like to soften, I realised something had changed.

Not because my circumstances had changed…

But because, for the first time, I could feel myself again.

Looking back, that moment quietly shaped everything that came after.

Part Two of my journey back to my inner compass.

22/07/2026

For a long time, I didn’t know my compass was outside of me.

I thought everyone experienced the world the way I did.

Over the years, life slowly taught me something different.

Not how to become someone new.

But how to come home to myself.

This is the beginning of that journey.

My language doesn’t have to be your language. My experiences are my own.

But I do believe we all have an inner compass.

And perhaps the journey isn’t about finding it…

Perhaps it’s about remembering how to listen.

This is the first in a series about how I found my way back to myself.

Field Note

We often think listening happens with our ears.

But the deepest listening happens with our heart.

It asks us to pause.

To soften.

To let the mind become quiet enough for something deeper to be heard.

The birds remind me of this every time I stop long enough to listen.

Not with my mind.

But with my heart.

And in that space, I remember…

my song has been waiting.

Field note. The earth has never asked me to prove I belong.

A field note from a rainy morning.

We often think healing gives us something new.

More often, it gently washes away what was never truly us.

A field note from a rainy morning.

Perhaps healing isn’t about becoming someone new.

Perhaps it’s remembering who you’ve always been.

15/07/2026

There was a time when I believed every thought that passed through my mind.

Now I’ve learnt to notice something much more interesting.

Who is driving?

My thinking mind is extraordinary. It helps me navigate daily life, solve problems and organise the practicalities of living.

But I’ve also learnt that it isn’t meant to be in charge all the time.

The moment I hear the word should, I pause.

It’s become one of my little wayfinders.

An invitation to become quiet and listen a little more deeply.

Sometimes the most important thing I can do isn’t think harder.

It’s become quiet enough to hear what has been there all along.

Winter isn’t always grey.

Sometimes it comes dressed in fire.

I wonder how often we expect a season—or a chapter of our lives—to look a certain way, and miss what’s actually here.
