✨Self-Care Sunday:
Honoring Myself and My Families Journey ✨🙏

Today’s Self-Care Sunday was all about pressing pause—taking some much-needed time to reflect on what I and my family truly need moving forward.
Part of that care is allowing space for connection and healing, especially when it comes to the ones we’ve lost.

This week, I treated myself to a beautiful journal, giving myself the gift of a special place to write to my late father.

He always had a way of making sense of the world, even when everything felt upside down.

Through these words, I’m able to keep our conversations going and find comfort in his wisdom during confusing times. 💛✨

How are you caring for yourself this week?
Let’s remind ourselves that self-care is not selfish; it’s necessary.

✨Community Sponsorship Opportunities – ESPHC✨

At ESPHC, we are currently exploring opportunities to support local clubs and organisations within our community. While we have traditionally supported the Starlight Children's Christmas Foundation—a wonderful cause for the past few years 💫

💫For our 2027 sponsorship initiative, we are keen to give back to the Gawler community that continues to support us.

If your club or organisation is interested in partnering with us, we invite you to share some information about your group and any available sponsorship opportunities.

Please include details about your organisation and how we might be able to contribute to its activities or events.

For more information or to express your interest, please contact me at [email protected].

We look forward to hearing from you.

SUPPORT | Helping children and teens through big emotions

Big feelings can be difficult for children and teenagers to understand and manage, and as a parent, it can be hard to know exactly what to do in the moment.

Here are a few simple ways you can support them:

Listen before you solve.
Sometimes they need to feel heard before they’re ready to hear advice.

Name what you’re noticing.
“I can see you’re really frustrated” can help a child begin to understand and communicate what they’re feeling.

Stay calm where you can.
Your calm presence can help them feel safe when their own emotions feel overwhelming.

Give them space when they need it.
Not every conversation needs to happen immediately. Let them know you’re there when they’re ready.

Connect before correcting.
A moment of connection can be more helpful than immediately focusing on the behaviour.

Remember that behaviour is communication.
Instead of only asking, “How do I stop this behaviour?”, try asking, “What might they be trying to communicate?”

And most importantly, you don’t have to get it right every time.

Parenting can be challenging, particularly when your child or teenager is navigating , , , emotional regulation, friendships, school or other big life changes.

Sometimes, a little extra support can make a big difference. 🫶

At Empowered Self Psychology, our multidisciplinary team provides compassionate, neuro-affirming support for children, young people and families.

You’re not expected to navigate it all alone. Save this for later or share with a friend!
